Keeping this in my BOB
Pro’s:• Decent Ferro rod fire starter kit• The Ferro rod and striker have holes in them so they can hang on the 550-cord• The 550-cord can be used for many different uses in an emergency situation so having more in your kit is always welcome• This starts throwing sparks quickly after a few heavy scraps and once you have a section of the rod primed you can work your way around the rod as you use it to ensure you balance out the wear• I like that they added a few extra tweaks to the striker like the map rule and bottle opener• I also like that they added the waxed tinder wick and a pocket fire bellow for help in getting that fire started quickerCon’s:• It would have been nice if they included a simple pouch to hold all of this gear togetherFinal thoughts: This is going in BOB prep kit for emergency use. Fire starters like this are cheap and readily available now but for $16 and some change, this is a decent fire starter kit that includes a few extras that should help get a fire going when it’s life or death. I received this Fire starter kit for free as part of the Vine program but feel I’ve given a fair unbiased review. If anything changes my mind on this set, I’ll come back to update my review.

Nice kit
This is a great overall kit. I would just add in some bright paracord to make it easier to find in a bag in the dark.My favorite part about this is the wax-infused tinder wick. I have a slightly bigger one in another pack which is handy when lighting a fire. This one is just as great though. The wax-infused tinder wick bruns well and long and is so easy to ignite. The little blower is very useful in making your fire burn brighter and hotter faster with controlled air flow. The striker and flint is thick and well made. Really overall this is a solid product. Nice work!

XIANGXING fire starter - welcome addition to your bugout bag
I will never forget one trip through Kern County for California's golden trout, when lighting a campfirerevealed weaknesses in "modern" wonders, such as matches (so old they merely sputtered) and a Zippothat plainly needed more lighter fluid. It was nearing dusk, so a magnifying lens could not takeadvantage of the sun's rays. What saved the day was a striker on ferro.XIANGXING sparks first, every time. It will never let you down.

works as a fire starter
Last time I went backpacking the starter on my stove wasn't working. One of the guys I went with had a fire starter like this, and we used it to start the stove. I thought it was a good idea to get one of my own as a backup. It work as a fire starter, although if you are a minimalist, it is a bit bigger than some of the really tiny ones you can get.I liked the 'straw' billows to help get a small fire started as well.

Awesome! Showers of Sparks.
The wax-infused tinder wick is easy to ignite and the built-in collar/tamper makes it easy to extinguish so you don't waste any.

Works well! Highly recommend this!
Quality is great, the wax rope helped keep it going long enough for your kindling to get started.
