Had a heck of a time getting my OEM Apple MagSafe charger to work in the car with our iPhone 12’s. No matter what kind of connection we used, the phones would not charge - just cycle into charging and not-connected mode every few seconds while steadily draining the phone battery. I tried several car chargers, thinking it might be an issue with compatibility with the smart charging features of the iPhone 12 Pro Max or simply not enough power output for the huge phone. None of that explained, however, why my wife’s iPhone 12 Mini refused to charge. After thinking through the problem some more, I realized that the magnetic mount on which I placed the MagSafe charger to hold it to my dashboard was the culprit! Inductive charging uses electric coils to charge the phone, which is the same basic principle as magnetism - so the magnetic mount on my car vent was actually disrupting / cancelling the electrical charging current. This little adapter solved all of that problem - no additional magnets other than the MagSafe itself. Now our phones charge perfectly (and super-fast, thanks to the 45W car charger adapters I bought while troubleshooting). This adapter mounts easily to the car vent with the included clip, and holds even my giant iPhone 12 Pro Max firmly in place once my MagSafe charger is installed. There is also a stand adapter that you can glue to your dash or other surface if not using the vent clip (I didn’t try this). All in all this is an excellent solution to a problem that Apple designed into their very expensive MagSafe chargers; a problem easily remedied by not making the chargers magnet-mountable in the first place. If you’re having trouble with your MagSafe not charging, or simply want a fail-safe way to mount it into your car, this a perfect solution.

So if you have an iPhone, and want to use it with an actual Apple MagSafe Cell phone charger, then this should be of interest. Third party MagSafe chargers fit snugly. However, when Apple redesigned their MagSafe charger, they made it a smidgen smaller. In either case, you may want to use a small bit of glue, or adhesive to hold your MagSafe charger in this holder. Has a 28mm base with a 26mm circle of 3M VHB adhesive on its flat plastic base. This is a total adhesive area of 169 sq mm (or 1.69 sq cm) The 26mm adhesive circle is slightly larger than a US quarter coin. It might hold, but one would be concerned if this would hold, even on a flat surface, on a hot summer day. And you would want to make sure that the surface was clean, etc. However, this design uses the common 17mm ball socket, with the ball in the base, and the socket in the mount, so its parts are compatible with the bases for a number of other mounts. So if you want to use your own, provided MagSafe charger, you can use this mount someone else's 17mm base. Also includes a vent mount. Suitable Applications: Those wanting to use a magnetic charger provided by their cell phone manufacturer, such as an Apple MagSafe Wireless Charger with an iPhone, and having either a suitable mounting surface, or a compatible 17mm base. Pros: Allows use of actual Apple MagSafe, or compatible chargers. Ball and socket joint (17mm ball on base) allows up/down, left/right tilt and rotation. You can upgrade to Qi2, Qi3, Qi4, etc. just by changing the internal charger puck. Reasonably Priced Cons: The dash mount has a small flat adhesive surface. You need to provide USB cigarette lighter adapter or other power source and a MagSafe, or compatible charger.

Originally used with the vent clip. Then decided to mount with the pedestal. But when I tried to remove the vent clip (collar fully loose) the vent clip snapped in half! Thankfully it still worked with the sticky pedestal, so not a total loss. The foam tape has come loose from my dash in spring FL temps a few times. Using for a iPhone 14 pro, not a supersized phone. Thinking I’ll replace with my own automotive 3m tape next time it fails. Not the mounts fault, but check your phone if you use a case! My clear otterboc MagSafe case doesn’t move on the mount, but a black otterbox case of the same design falls off on bad potholes…

I think we all know by now that when we use our MagSafe charger with a good/compatible cigarette lighter charger the screen will tell us that it’s probably going to charge the phone the best it can. Not that it can beat the lightning port, but as good as it can get wirelessly. Surprisingly this mount that fits perfectly with the MagSafe charger is not top on the list for mounts in the searches. I really do hope it can find itself on top of the lists on searches. This simply made mount for MagSafe to be used in the car fits perfectly. It’s so perfect, the puck won’t fall out when you remove the phone. In one of my photos will show you the hole to use to push out the charger. I also have photos of the MagSafe in the mount, and my phone on it to show that I am charging with the MagSafe. The locking nut is pretty solid as well, the mount won’t be loose and sag. This product is worth every penny for anyone that would rather use the official MagSafe charger and not some third party universal qi charger.

Worked well for a month. The vent clip bent today and won’t hold onto the vent any longer. It wasn’t under any extra strain or pressure - was just holding my phone and let go. I was hoping the vent clip would do better as I’ve had nothing but trouble with suction cups mounts.
