Strong Little Pump That Gets the Job Done!
I bought the Superior Pump 91660 Tankless Water Heater Descaler Pump Kit to descale my tankless water heater, and I’m honestly impressed. The pump seems very strong and moved the solution through the system without any problems. It had plenty of power and kept the flow steady the whole time. The kit comes with everything you need, including hoses, a bucket, and the non-toxic descaler solution, which made the whole process simple and convenient. Setup was straightforward and it worked exactly the way it should. If you need to flush or descale a tankless water heater, this kit makes it easy and the pump feels solid and reliable. Definitely a good buy! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Good kit for descaling a tankless water heater, though the key components can be bought cheaper
Overall, I'm satisfied with this kit, which I bought to descale my Rinnai RE199iP propane-fired tankless water heater for the first time (1 year after installation). The kit comes with a 1/6-hp submersible pump, two 6-ft braided water hoses with 3/4" female garden hose connections, a small bucket, and a packet of Dezcal descaler powder. The bucket is convenient for storing all of the components, including the pump in its box. The manual is well-written in English, and clear, and includes both instructions for descaling and general specs for the pump. You can also find some good videos online to walk you through the process. My Rinnai manual called for 4 gal food grade white vinegar, so I used that instead of the descaler powder, though I could only fit 2 gal in the bucket. The braided hoses were good quality and made secure connections to the brass bypass fittings on my water heater, though connecting the supply side to the pump outlet was a little tricky to get threaded properly, as the fitting on the pump is plastic and swivels freely. The pump operated smoothly and effectively (be sure that the output hose is secure in the bottom of the bucket before you plug in the pump, as the flow is quite strong). Per the water heater manual, I also checked the burner flame, tested the overpressure relief valve, and vacuumed out the interior of the water heater during this process (my unit does not have an air filter). My only minor gripes are: 1) The cord should have a switch on it to make it easier to turn the pump on/off without plugging/unplugging. 2) The pump and hoses can be purchased separately for quite a bit less, so the kit is not a great value. Overall, though, I'm happy with the purchase.

Highly recommend!
Absolutely gobsmacked at how great this kit is! Flushing out the tankless water heat was easy enough, but to have everything I needed all in one space was wonderful. Everything was neatly packaged, and the kit came as advertised. The hoses were of high quality, and there were no leaks on either ends of the connections. The pump itself was brand new in box, and was quiet and powerful. I appreciated having the descaler in powder form as it makes it much easier to store and cleanup after use. The instructions were simple and easy to follow and while this won’t ever be my favorite chore it’s certainly one I won’t be putting off either.

Great product for servicing your water heater
Great product. Easy to use as advertised and as seen written about on other reviews. Our first time servicing our tankless water heater ourself and it was straight forward. Went from struggling to have hot water to having hot water again! A keeper tool.

great kit - worked perfectly... however let's see what happens next year when I do a second flush
I followed the Rinnai hot water heater's flush instructions... and the instructions on the pump's plastic bucket container... and I took my time doing every step. I did not force any valves open or closed. My Rinnai unit is 3 years old and this was the first time I tried to open/close valves, and they were all stuck. I removed the plastic caps on the valves, and I used a really small adjustable wrench to delicately open/close valves without the caps (meaning, I applied very little pressure on the wrench to open/close valves), and that worked. In the end, everything worked perfectly. No spills. No damage. Before I started the process I cleaned my Rinnai water heater's water filter, and I did that again after the flushing. The flushing actually caused a bit of gunk to get caught by the water filter, and so I'm happy I cleaned it before and after the flush. Based on the reviews for other pumps, it sounds like these pumps frequently fail in the near future (next few times they are used), and so I'll update this review after each flush to let you know how long these pumps last. I'm going to flush my hot water heater once a year. Going forward, I'm also going to toggle (on/off/on, off/on/off) my water heater valves once every 6 months to reduce the chances of them sticking again in the future. When I was done with my water heater flushing, for about 30 seconds I then ran fresh clean water thru the pump that exited into an outside drain. I'm hoping that will prolong the life of the pump. Meaning, I ran a garden hose to the bucket to fill it with clean water, while I simultaneously used the pump to pump the clean water from the bucket to a drain using a second garden hose.

Easy and works great
Easy Peasy! Our Electric tankless heater started providing intermittent hot water. Instead of trying to piece together the needed tools to flush with vinegar, I opted to get this kit that came with a flushing packet. Added packet to 1 gallon of water per the instructions, ran flush for 1 hour, flushed with fresh water for 5 minutes. Hot water problems solved. Kit stored nicely in the supplied bucket. We will now flush every six months.
