Nutrisse Permanent Hair Dye, Natural-looking, hair colour result, For All Hair Types, 4.3 Dark Golden Brown

I know this product has had a mass of reviews already - but we wanted to share our experience of it with darker hair. My wife (photographed) has naturally darker brown hair (she had previously had the ends highlighted - several years ago - which has mostly grown out, but is visible in the “before” photo. For the most part, her hair is just dark brown.) We were skeptical as to how effective the “Firey Red” would be - but have found that it’s fairly true to their claims. It does, somehow, lighten darker hair. It’s especially vibrant when caught by sunlight (we haven’t shown this in the photos - as generally that isn’t how it appears - but trust us … it is properly red when caught). I would say under typical (winter, at the time of reviewing) lighting it’s a shade less vibrant than the packaging suggests. You can see the length of her hair - we bought two bottles and I’m glad we did. We made it with one - but boy was it close. We used every last drop, and even then… I wouldn’t have minded it having another 10%. But nothing came out blotchy or badly covered, so YMMV. We followed the instructions as accurately as we could - and let it “brew” for the maximum suggested time. It didn’t take long, wasn’t needlessly messy, and was quite romantic as a couple doing it together. Definitely recommended - exceptional value for what you get. It has continued to wash out a little over the last month - so be careful what towels you use in those first 10 or so washings! But the colour has only continued to brighten - as if by some sort of magic. I hope this helps anyone in their buying dilemma!

This hair dye colours my roots well. It is easy to mix, easy enough to apply to my hair myself. Although the colour does lighten slightly after about three washes I'm quite happy with that as it looks less intense. It does stay a good brown shade though. It does not smell too strong when applying. The conditioner that comes with the colour is really good as well. Good price.

First off, the colour result is really nice. It’s a warm, rich brown with subtle golden undertones that look natural, not brassy or overly orange. I have fine-to-medium hair that was previously dyed a lighter brown, and the coverage was solid – it even hid most of my early grey strands without looking too heavy. The formula feels conditioning as you apply it, and my hair didn’t feel dry or damaged after rinsing, which is a big plus for a permanent dye. Application is straightforward too, with clear instructions and all the tools you need included in the box – perfect for at-home use. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is that the golden tones were a bit more prominent than I expected, especially in direct sunlight. If you’re after a more neutral dark brown, you might want to go a shade cooler. Also, the scent is quite strong (as with most hair dyes) and lingered on my hair for a day or two, which was a bit noticeable. All in all, it’s a reliable option that delivers on its promise of natural-looking colour for most hair types. Would recommend if you’re after a warm, dark golden brown – just be prepared for the slight scent and more noticeable gold flecks in bright light.

I used the Garnier Nutrisse in Black to cover some grey hairs and refresh my colour, and overall I’m pretty happy with it. The colour came out a nice, natural black—not too harsh or blue-toned like some dyes can be. It also covered my greys well in just one go. My hair actually felt softer after dyeing, which I think is thanks to the oils they include in the formula. The box comes with everything you need and the instructions were clear and easy to follow, even though it’s my first time using this brand. The applicator made it pretty straightforward to put on. One downside: the smell during application is quite strong and chemical-y. It wasn’t unbearable but definitely noticeable, so I made sure to do it in a well-ventilated room. Also, it contains ammonia, so if you have a sensitive scalp, be careful and maybe do a patch test first. The colour has lasted a few weeks now without much fading, and I haven’t noticed any damage or dryness, which is a bonus. Overall: If you want a solid, natural-looking black dye that leaves hair feeling nice, this is a good pick. Just be ready for the typical hair dye smell.

After YEARS of searching I’ve finally found a hair dye that changes the colour of my hair! Dark-haired girlies will understand! My hair is naturally dark brown and lost count of how many times I’ve been left disappointed after using a dye as you could hardly see the colour. But not with this!! YAY! 🙌 Dye was super easy to use and didn’t stress me out like others I’ve used in the past. Developing time was only 30 minutes which is less than lots of others I’ve used. I got dye on my white dressing gown and it washed out no problem. The only tiny negative is that somehow some of the dye had gone through the gloves, not sure how, but washed off easy. And I’m so buzzing with it that still deserves 5 stars. I hope the before & after pics help other dark-haired girls choose as there wasn’t many pics when I was trying to pick one that was going to work, for a change. This will be my go to from now on and the fact that it’s vegan too is an added bonus as that’s what I choose over non-vegan dyes. Highly recommended from one very happy dark-haired gal 😉 (Please note: the 3rd photo is with sunlight shining on my hair which is why it looks lighter)
