The Last Days of Disco is best
The Last Days of Disco is the best of these three films, with its music and witty dialogue. The Last Days of Disco has a lot of whiny bourgeois kids, but the other elements compensate for all of the annoying whining. With the other two films, there’s not as much to compensate and the incessant bellyaching is a bit overwhelming long before the end of the films.

Fantastic set of films by one of the 90s most underrated directors
Whit Stillman is one of the under-seen directors of the indie scene, whose footprint can be seen in directors even today, and Criterion here provide a great primer for the director, providing the first three director's films all in one package. Though some of the special features are lacking on a few of the discs, overall its a great experience, with fantastic video and audio quality. For those who have never seen Stillman's work, this is a great, somewhat inexpensive way to explore his oeuvre. For Stillman fans, this is great tribute to the director, and the best way to see his work (outside of seeing on the big screen).

Great deal on three very funny films
The first thing that should be said about Mr. Stillman is that he is very f###ing funny. I mean laugh out loud funny. The dialogue sparkles from beginning to end in each of the three pictures. Disco!

A graduate of the early eighties, then this trilogy should bring you back.
I remember watching Metropolitan, then Last Days of Disco, and lastly Barcelona. The Packaging does this trilogy justice. The acting and subject matter reminds one of eighties, the desire to travel amplified by the Armed Forces then portraying foreign postings as a real possibility, then the burning of disco music at the ballpark, together with multiple closings of dance discotheques. A great buy of a memory gone by. Coastal life.

Love buying Criterion at Amazon
These are three of my favourite American arthouse classics of the late 80's early 90's. I still love Whit Stillman, thought Damsels in Distress was brilliant. But once upon a time it was Barcelona that introduced me to his films and this was why I'd waited on buying his other two on Criterion. Now for my confession, I haven't actually watched this box set yet. Normally I ignore the please publish your review till after I've watched the movie I'm being asked to review, but I wanted to mention one thing. I love Criterion and have a huge collection, and I do occasionally buy straight from the source, but, as a Canadian it is cheaper to buy from Amazon, and you get your movies, especially the coming soon stuff earlier.

Whit Stillman is awesome.
Whit Stillman is the most underrated writer/director in the movie business. His writing is really smart. Great casting too. I wish he made more movies!
