Coming from a culture where people can tell the difference between the dozen of bottled mineral waters on the market and have a favorite, the quality of the water in the U.S. (whether bottled or running) was a big shock. The water in our town is particularly chlorinated and bad tasting, although I'm sure there's worse. I use filtered water for everything, from drinking water to soups and cooking water. I've been using Brita jars and filters for 20+ years. Then, suddenly, their filters started producing algae in the water (call that programmed obsolescence), and I made it my mission to look for a better water filtration system. I feel it the jackpot with Epic Pure. It is VERY SLOW to filter the water and the replacement filters are EXPENSIVE, i.e. $45 (although you can get on an auto-replenishment program that gives you a discount), but the water is the BEST-TASTING WATER I've had in a long while. The feature I like the most (besides the awesome filter, of course, and the solid construction) is that the jar features two separate compartments. Even if there's [unfiltered] water left in the upper compartment, only filtered water (from the lower compartment) will end up in your cup. The day counter is a nice plus, but I'm sure I'll be able to tell when to replace the filter by the change in water taste. If you can afford the jar and the $45 replacement filter every 30–90 days (depending on usage), don't hesitate. I promise you won't regret it.

Unlike other filters on the market, this one actually removes harmful additives and other substances from the water, and the company is very transparent about how they do it. I am very picky with the taste of water (I care a lot about my health), so I can state that with this filter, water tastes great! No more metal or chemical aftertaste!

The replacement filters are expensive and often out of stock, but this is without doubt the best water filter jug I’ve ever had. I now have three, as I’ve had to purchase a new jug when filters are either not available or almost as expensive as a new jug complete with filter.

This is a great product the main reason I picked it was it did not need electricity to power it and it removed ALL the baddies. I though it may be small for a family of 6 but is very efficient and quick in filtering. A really great product did a water test on family and friends all could pick the filtered water and most commented that the water tasted lighter. The only draw back is every now and then the top when pouring will fall off but if you remember to put your hand there, no problem. Would definitely recommend if looking for a filtration system that is not installed this is it.
