Not great on it's own but I made it work...
I purchased a Concept 2 rower and immediately knew that I needed something to help cushion the seat. For my first purchase from Amazon, I bought the Concept 2 Rower Foam Seat Pad. The rower was awesome so the seat pad from the same brand should be great too right? Nope. If you row for a half hour and your butt is killing you, then the product is not doing the job. I came back to Amazon after looking everywhere else online too and decided to try out this Skwoosh Master Row Pad. Apparently these 2 products are the only seat pads for a rowing machine. I did not find anything anywhere else on the internet at all, only ones designed for actual boats and kayak's. So, I purchased this product, removed the foam seat pad, and this really was no better. It is flat as a pancake and the small amount of gel in the butt circles does not provide enough cushioning to keep me comfortable during a rowing session. After that, I decided to make my own solution on the problem, since there were really no other options out there that I found. I put the Concept 2 Foam Pad back on the seat, and then put this Skwoosh Row Pad on top of that. Surprisingly, it actually works. I can now go through a good 30 minute rowing session without any discomfort on my bum.My conclusion, this product alone will not keep you comfortable. The Concept 2 Foam Pad on its own will not keep you comfortable. But I decided to share my solution of using the two together in case anyone else wants to give it a try.

Relief from discomfort and some increased speed, but not complete
I'm still in what I consider the testing phase of using this product. I had hoped for immediate relief from my feet falling asleep while on a Concept 2 Rower and I got it. I had also hoped that it would extend my ability to row much longer distances. I think I probably will end up getting about a 40-50% increase. I was easily able to row a 5k without issue. I was able to get to 8k before I started having moderate discomfort. This was a doubling or so in that 4k-5k was my previous discomfort zone. I had hoped that I'd be able to get more to a 10k or even a marathon without issue. The jury is still out on that. I haven't made it yet, but I know for certain that I saw a drop in my 10k time.I'd also offer that there should be clearer instructions on placement of the gel pad. I had to play around with it for one rowing session before I knew which end should be forward and what side should be up.

Not very effective - much cheaper and more effective options available
Every butt is different in shape and tolerance for pain so what works for one person may not for others. The bottom line (excuse the pun) is that this pad doesnโt work for ME. I had high hopes that the gel sections would make this a good pad. They donโt and the gel seems to be pushed totally to one edge of the section after a few minutes.I scull for 90 minutes daily and did not have butt pain until a few years ago. 2 years I bought one of these Skwoosh pads to be used on a 3-hour row our club does from time to time. It did not help significantly on that row and I have tried it on a few occasions. Our club has several home-made pads made from an old yoga mat. A few months ago, I decided to give one of these a try. They provide far better pain avoidance than does the Skwoosh. The ones we have are about 3/8 of an inch and softer than the Skwoosh.

Too thin for me
This was a nice pad but I still had pain when rowing longer Distances. I purchased a 3 inch seat cushion which is not working great for me.

Row Pad Sest
Itโs a great pad for rowing. The gel seats may be better but this is a close second.

Provided some relief but not enough
The pad does help a bit. It delayed the pain on my sit bones an extra five minutes or so but by the time I get to 15 minutes my pain is back. It may be better for rowers with more time on the seat. I've only been on my rower for a couple of months. I use the pad but it only delays the onset of the pain and does not completely cushion my seat.

Still not sure
Rowing on a Concept 2. Normal had a C2 pad. Tried without but now have it back on with Swoosh too and on top.

Works great on a Water Rower!
When plantar fasciitis and heel spurs made running a thing of the past, I turned to the water rower at the gym for cardiovascular exercise and HIIT. All was good until I started spending more time on the rower perfecting my stroke and burning fat, at which point I started to develop saddle sores on my not very well padded bum. Ouch! I didn't have high expectations for this little pad when I pulled it out of the package, but boy was I wrong! It is the answer to my problem and makes rowing for extended periods of time not only tolerable, but enjoyable. I hardly know it's there except for the fact that I'm not in excruciating pain. I will never row without my Skwoosh!

Seven years and still going strong
I do not row as in 'proper' rowing. I have a rowing machine that I use to keep fit and I was finding that I was getting a numb bum before I finished a thirty minute session.I've had this thing a couple of weeks now but have only managed five sessions on the machine 'coz other things stole my time. It is smaller than I expected but it is adequate and it does not slide around on the rowing machine's seat when it's in use. It doesn't make the seat feel any softer or more luxurious, in fact I hardly notice that it's there, but it does seem to have solved the problem and I'm pleased with it so far.Update:When I wrote this review in 2014 I said that if I remembered I'd update my review at some point in the future. It is now 2021, just. and now seems like a good time.I rowed two or three times a week through 2014-2017 and this seat enabled me to comfortably survive an average 40 minute row. I moved house in 2017 and the rowing machine had to go but I eventually set up a new machine in the garage of my new house and am happily rowing away again. I do not use this pad much these days because my new machine is a Concept 2 and I bought a fitted seat cover that gives comfort with no slippage - the Skwoosh comes out when I am planning on a long row and want the extra padding.Overall it still gives padding and joint protection, it is in excellent condition even though I haven't treated it that well, and I am well satisfied with it.
