I didn't know that this was available until my MIL needed it while in the hospital. As an older person I sometimes have trouble with choking when I drink. I can make my water as thick or thin as I like. It's tasteless and odorless and works great. Just make sure you put it in a dry container, add some water and mix it before mixing in the rest of the water. Wait that few minutes for it to work and you're ready to go. I haven't had any issues with choking since using this!

For plain water this is the best, but easier if made ahead of time. No taste, stays clear, and doesn’t settle to bottom of glass like Thickit. I make a quart or half gallon with room temp water (or any clear liquid) and stir or shake multiple times until no clumps ,then put in fridge to cool. That way it’s ready at a moments notice if you get thirsty. Thickness doesn’t change much with cooling I say clear liquids because you can see any clumps and be sure you get them dissolved before cooling. I find liquid SimplyThick best for other uses (like thickening a cup of coffee, milk, or bowl of soup at home or at a restaurant) as it takes only 30 seconds to mix and be served and no clumps but makes plain water look “dirty” (cloudy)and unappetizing.

Don't need much to attain desired viscosity. Better absorption than Thick it competitor product. Uses less too.

This brand is much less gritty than Thick-It. Just make sure that the cup you put the powder in is BONE DRY or you’ll get clumps at the bottom as the powder will absorb moisture right away. I dry the cup, put the powder in, then pour the liquid in and start stirring while I’m pouring. I have t tasted it myself and the person I’m working with has dementia and can’t tell me how it tastes. But he’s picky and has never refused to drink liquids thickened with this powder. I usually do 1/4 juice or Gatorade and 3/4 water to make it more palatable. I’ve tried other brands with water only and they look and taste gross. I’ll get around to tasting this brand and report back but so far, so good.

Product mixes very well if used as directed (in a dry cup). Taste and consistency is smooth and good. We have tried other thickeners and did not care for the taste or consistency.

This product I use for my brother who has the inability to swallow properly without aspirating so I use this in his drinks. I find that it clumps the liquid too much and after sitting a short time the drink becomes like goo. Even if I put less powder it has a weird texture after it sits. I have tried other brands and it doesn’t coagulate as this one does.

Amazon as the only affordable option for this necessity. We were able to alter the thickness based on progressing swallowing disorder. We would mix her beverages and set them in the freezer for 10 minutes while preparing her food; she liked her beverages cold! We used it with juice, water ( with and without flavor enhancers), milk, broth, etc.
