2 watts output does not really charge an iphone... not in any practical manner. I measured it, gives me 250 mA output. Compare this to the 1 A provided with the iphone for charging. In my most recent test, my iphone LOST charge while connected (I have no idea how). I think it was just using more juice than it was getting. I'm going to be selling mine. It's too heavy to backpack with, and doesn't provide useable electricity.

Choose pots and pans that are no more than 10" inches in diameter and no more than 8 pounds when fully loaded. Any metal cookware (aluminum, stainless steel, titanium) will work with your CampStove. - That is a direct quote from the biolitestove.com website. Their website has videos, pictures, and lots of information.

to further UK2CA2SD's answer, the silver (well, Stainless Steel) part stays nice and clean on the outside and if you nest the orange part inside the chamber and then toss the whole thing in the stuff sack, your pack won't come in contact with anything sooty. If your plastic orange part gets some ash on it, you can wipe it off at home with a towel dampened with 409 something and it comes right off.

Every time you use the biolite stove with the power module it charges itself, therefore if you don't use the power module it might not be charged when you need it. But to answer you question... It needs a wind source to properly work and that is what the power mod is for / charging devices. I will say this... My biolite has kept a charge for over 4 months without recharging... Just follow stove instructions, it will tell you how to first charge the unit and then it tells how to maintain your stove.if your on the fence about buying this product ... Go ahead and buy... It gives you something to talk about at the campground or in the mountains, people will ask you about your "cool" little grill! I suggest getting the excessories as well makes life easier when you are out in the wilderness
