This Smoke Detector is very durable and detects smoke when there is an issue. I have burned bread several times in my toaster oven and each time that there is a hint of smoke, this detector will start sounding the alarm and is very loud so that you know that there is an issue. I love the fact that it has a 10 Year Battery and after that you buy another one. Changing batteries every 6 months and trying to remember to change the batteries every 6 months was a hassle and it seemed to alert me to the fact that the batteries need changing in the middle of the night while in a nice deep sleep…. That is a thing of the past now with this 10 Year Battery Smoke Detector. I live in a 900 square foot garden apartment and I have it positioned in the very middle. I do pray that I will never hear the alarm going off as I know there will be a legitimate problem. This is a must buy!

These smoke alarms are incredible! We had to steam the bathroom excessively because my daughter had croup. When a wave of steam escaped from the bathroom, the smoke alarm went off. I felt reassured that it detected this unusual occurrence and promptly activated. They also went off when our oven had a spill. In my opinion, they are sensitive enough to detect when needed, yet not overly reactive.

Oh yeah, these are very loud, and sensitive enough to give you a head start before a fire can get out of control. I would strongly advise installing fire extinguishers at key locations throughout your home also. You can get great deals on them here at Amazon. Peace of mind and home safety should not depend on what you decide you want to spend your money on. With all these things, I also own a watchdog and a couple of guns.

Works too well. Loud and very sensitive. Make sure to not put it close to a bathroom. Steam from hot showers will definitely trigger it!
