Why are the 2 shoulder straps such different lengths?

There are handles for carrying and a long shoulder strap if you choose to put it over your shoulder.

Afterside pocket is fraying using it ~4 x since purchase, the inside pocket is fraying, is this expected?

I have only used once...so far so good

Is goat leather durable, does it smell? This is for college

It is processed leather and the slight odor will dissipate (unprocessed leather would be hard and smell like dead flesh) it's processed w/ a vegetable tanning process, I'm going to get my daughter one for collage- I always use "Sno-seal" beeswax leather weather treatment, Use a heat gun or heat your oven to 350, turn it off, put the bag in a paper bag to warm up, apply the Sno-seal, return it to the oven(still cooling off) it will soak up all the beeswax and never stain, get wet and retain its shape- but unless you want soft, easy to rip- I have found it to be the best treatment for boots, jackets, my Mom's purse even my portfolio
