Nephew loved his Christmas present!
My nephew is very into HeroClix and asked for several of them for Christmas - there aren't many places to order these and I am always happy when I can get things from Amazon. This was one of the only options that had free shipping, which was some what limiting, but he loved it so I guess it worked out!

Hellboy HeroClix set
I love HeroClix, however WizKids ignored the independent companies by only giving them one set. Then they released this Hellboy set and the Invincible set. I am a big fan of HB and love this pack. Especially since it has Abe Sherman, Liz Sherman, AND Hellbaby! Pancakes for the win baby!!

Intended for seasoned players, not newcomers
As much as I love this set, I cannot recommend this set to the inexperienced players that have not previously played a game of Heroclix/ Horrorclix. While I personally only play Heroclix, I like how this set can be used for either game, and that's probably the set's biggest strength overall. For the record, I was very excited about receiving this set, even though I don't follow the Hellboy comic books (love the movies, though). You get seven figures total: Hellboy, Abe Sapien, Liz Sherman, Roger, Johann Kraus, Captain Ben Daimio, and Hellbaby. Along with the figures, you also get a 2-player map that can be used for either Heroclix or Horrorclix, two feat cards (which are great for Heroclix in general), two Horrorclix cards, a set of eight bystander tokens, and character cards for all the figures, which seem to appear to be styled after the Horrorclix cards, since they don't look similar to the DC or Marvel Heroclix figure cards. On top of that, all seven figures have the "BPRD" team ability, which is basically a "Wild Card" in Heroclix, meaning they can copy (most) other team abilities from friendly characters on a team. So, why only 4 stars? To begin with, while I got character cards for most of my figures, I didn't receive a character card for Liz Sherman. Secondly, the damage value on the last clicks of Liz Sherman and Johann Kraus are left blank as a result of a printing error. Luckily, there are sites out there, [...], to help out those like myself to look up character dials to "fill-in-the-blanks" in this case. While all of the figures of the set are highly playable, they suffer the downside of most Indy Heroclix in generally poorer stats in comparison to the newer DC/ Marvel Heroclix sets. However, using the right feat cards, most of the set is highly playable. For example, Abe Sapien and Liz Sherman's only keyword is "BPRD," so one could always use the "Loner" feat ("Secret Invasion," Marvel Heroclix) on either figure when placing them on a team with other figures NOT from this set (besides Hellbaby) to increase their defense by 1. For Hellbaby, there's a "Pounce" feat card ("Origin", DC Heroclix), which makes the 30-point figure a lot more effective, especially since he has "Leap/Climb" for his full dial.In conclusion, if you play Heroclix already, and you're looking for a good set of Heroclix for the money, this set is definitely better to get rather than going out to the local comic book shop and buying two booster packs for relatively the same price. However, if you're new to Heroclix, I'd suggest looking elsewhere, such as the Fantastic Four Starter Set, or, alternatively, the Legion of Super-Heroes Starter set. Those sets are better built and more qualified for starting Heroclix players, especially since they include dice and rulebooks. Ironically, the Legion of Super-Heroes set are also a set of "Wild Cards," much like this set.
