Great foam roller for older people who have hard time balancing on a regular foam roller.Great for stretching your back if you have a tendency to slouch.

Based on the product description and on a one-star review that describes it similar to "memory foam' I thought this would be the relatively soft noodle-like roller I need. It is at least as firm as another one I bought that is high density and described as extra firm. This one, like my extra-firm, is indistinguishable from wood expect for a very slight give to its surface. So my 2-star review is a balance between 5-star if you want extra-firm and 1 star if you expect something much softer. I did not even remove the shrink-wrap after unpacking it and will be returning for a refund and shopping for a pool noodle to serve as a moderately soft roller.

Mine has a couple of permanent wrinkles from manufacturing but nothing that affects the function. At the time of purchase, this model has the best price for the size and density. I stand on it to do physical therapy exercises. Not sure how long it will last, but when it dents in under my weight, it eventually puffs back out. Except the manufacturing defects, of course.

For PT usage for upper back issues are the rounded edges on the flat side. My usage is lying on the flat side for stretches of chest and upper body muscles after hiking with a backpack. The rounded edges greatly increase the comfort. I had a similar product with non-curved edges and have discarded it. This one works great!
