Games Workshop 44-01 Warhammer 40k - Codex V.9 Dark Angels (En), Black

As advertised, this is the Codex *Supplement* for the Dark Angels chapter of the Space Marines (SM or SM's). It comes packed with lore, fluff, and all the rules you will need to field an army of the Emperor's First Legion. It focuses on all the characters, units, and specialties exclusive to the Dark Angels Chapter. That's it. Period. Only the named/special characters (Azerael, Belial, Interrogator-Chaplains, etc), special/unique units (Deathwing Terminators, Ravenwing Bikes, Land Speeder Vengeance, Nephilim Jet Fighter, etc), and things like the Successor Chapters, Dark Angel specific/special Army rules, Warlord Traits, Librarian Powers, etc... All about and only for the Dark Angels.All the rules and data sheets for common/basic units found in a general Space Marine army (Rhino transport, SM Scouts, basic infantry squad, etc) are NOT included in this supplement. For that, you must purchase separately the "Codex: Space Marines" book. No longer is it just one book for all Space Marines (hasn't been for going on a decade now). So if you wish to play Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Space Wolves, etc...you are now required to purchase at minimum two books just to get the rules for your army so be sure to check that the one book is all you need for your Space Marine army of choice.There is another item that youay wish to have in order to play with your Army on the tabletop as well. They, being Games Workshop (= GW) have a third item for for sale called Data Cards, which contains ALL the need to know rules from, (get this!), the Main Rule Book (MRB), the Space Marine Codex (SMC), and the Space Marine Supplement (SMS,x. Where x = your non- standard SM army of choice that has/needs its own SMS like mine, SMSDA). And these data card are just like a normal deck of playing cards in size and shape. They are more of a game aid rather than a necessity, however, they are beneficial in that you don't have to break out 3 hardbound books to look up a simple question when you have the cards.But the Supplement is the focus here and it is a beautifully done book with gorgeous illustrations, maps, well written discriptions, explanations, and of course rules. The presentation is well thought out and is easy to follow. The history, achievements, failures, and questionable morality of this chapter is well summarized. Although a very necessary addition to your collection of Dark Angels in order to play said forces, it really is a very nice book. If you do not play Space Marines of the Dark Angels specifically, I still recommend it for purchase, if anything, it will provide superb insights into some of the more powerful and esoteric units the Dark Angels are able to field. And if you play and own a Dark Angels army, there is no better way to learn of all the interesting combinations of really cool units you can utilize against your foes!

Badass book with some great updates for the DA

Book came well packaged, and all the corners were good. Not a huge fan of some changes GW made in this edition to my beloved Dark Angles but all and all Still a great army to play! the artwork is gorgeous, and the print quality is good too!

The codex is as described, delivery was as stated. Arrived wrapped and in perfect condition. It is priced high compared to other sellers but I was in need of a quick delivery (amazon prime)
