"AELITA" - A VAST DEPARTURE INTO ELECTRO/SYNTH FOR MANDO DIAO, WHICH IS ACTUALLY BEAUTIFUL & QUITE MESMERIZING!!
"AELITA" Is Another Departure For MANDO DIAO. However, The Band Have Been Quoted That "There Is No "MANDO DIAO" Sound; They Are Always Evolving". I Think "AELITA" Will Do Much Better Than Another, "Never Seen The Light Of Day", Which Was Folk/Indie. "ALEITA" Is Eletro/Synth. And, While I Prefer The Earlier Garage Rock Genre, This Is A Very Talented, Creative Band. Whatever Genre MANDO DIAO Turn Their Creative Juices Toward, They Master! This Time Out, It Would Seem They've Studied The Works Of New Order, Erasure & A Very Early Depeche Mode. It Would Be Very Easy To Insert Almost Any Song From "AELITA" Into The Soundtrack Of The 1988 Michael J. Fox Classic Cult Movie Favorite About 80's Excess Lifestyles In"Bright Lights, Big City", Novel By Jay McInerney. They Would Blend In Seamlessly, Especially "Black Saturday", "Money Doesn't Make You A Man" And "If I Don't Have You".Track #4 Is A Standout Here! It Is A Gorgeous Composition Executed By Immense Talents!! The Jacket Of "AELITA" Is, In Itself, A Work Of Art!I Can Appreciate MANDO DIAO'S Evolving; True Creativity. I Have Different Music For different Moods, So Why Wouldn't A Band Want The Same? However, This Can Be A Slippery-Slope For Bands To Navigate. Usually When People Like A Band, They Like The Band's Sound & Usually Don't Much Care For Variations & Those Departures Will Sometimes Get Labeled As "Concept" Albums. Please, MANDO DIAO, Just Don't Put Out A "Country" Or "Metal" Release Next (Although I Know You'd Do Either Justice!!)
