good shoes
4.5 stars- comfortable shoes that stopped my crab walk after i got home from work (taking off shoes and feet cant seem to support me anymore, weird pressure points etc. this has alleviated.) I do have to use some heel liners to get these shoes to fit snugly and they need to be tighter than tight but they work, alleviated a good amount of foot discomfort from working 8 hours a day. They are about a 8/10 on the slip resistance imo. The only downside is the thick bottom of the shoe sometimes gets caught on tiles/raised flooring and if i didnt have better balance i might have fallen. Pick your feet up when you walk.

Shocking Decline in Quality
I have worn Doc Martens as my daily shoe now for almost 20 years. After 5 years I had to replace my previous Docs. The sole was starting to split from the welt, but the upper was in reasonable condition. I purchased my first pair of these new shoes in Nov of '23 to have both soles splitting from the welt in about month. I returned the shoes and the second pair arrived in January of '24. With the new pair of shoes, I noticed that the toe cap area was starting to get a fuzzy texture. Almost a suede like texture. I had never seen this on a pair of Docs. I have seen scratches, but not the leather getting fuzzy. About two weeks ago, the left shoe, just aft of the toe cap where the shoe flexes, started to crack. Right now there is a fully developed crack all the way through the shoe and is about 5/8" long. The leather in the area is substantially thinner than other Docs that I have had. By eye, it seems that it is about 30-40% thinner than a pair that I have as some grunge shoes that are about 15 years old that have a crack in a similar place (but took more than 8 years to develop). To have these shoes last less than a year is really disappointing to say the least. I am looking at different shoes, and right now I am contemplating the Thursday Boot Company Statesman. It is the closest in style while having a better sole than the Doc Martens or the Solovair shoes that do not really allow for resoling. I never really worried about having to get new soles on shoes as the uppers usually wore out at about the same rate as the sole in the way that I use the shoe for a Doc Marten. I am open to suggestions, though.
