Texas vs Florida Yaupon Holly
First time i ever tried Yaupon as a hot beverage. Green tea has always tasted weak and not with much flavor. I always suspected that I was getting 2nds that hit the floor! Yaupon is light in taste, not sweet and not bitter, but pleasant. Having now lived in the Hill Country of Texas for 4 years, I at first worried that I would find fire ants and parts of scorpion bodies in the Yaupon bags. I checked. I have only found cutup Texas holly Yaupon leaves! I let my hot Yaupon sit for 5 minutes and leave the bag in my mug until the last sip. There is a slight difference in the taste of crispness between Dark Roast Yaupon Marfa (Cat Spring, Texas) which I prefer to the lighter Yaupon Holly Tea from Yaupon Brothers' (Florida). And I also like drinking 2 days Marfa and then 1 day Brothers' Yaupon. Enjoy! lp

Delightful, gentle yet definite flavor yaupon.
This is yaupon - supposedly the only north American origin caffeine-containing plant, and is present in much of the southern United States, and cultivated, prepared, packaged, and sold as a tea beverage. This particular package is billed as “Dark Roast”. I have yet to taste any yaupon that can compare to a strong black tea in strength. That said, this drink is quite good, resembling jasmine with a delicate flavor, in between a green tea and a light black tea. Highly recommend this brew.

Great tea, not so great packaging
I get this tea for my husband. He's been drinking it for a while. The teabags come in paper pouches. He just opened the last box I got him and tried to get the bag out of the pouch. It's pretty tight at the top and he tore the bag and spilled tea out trying. So I offered to open another one for him. I couldn't get the bag out until I'd torn the pouch down to the bottom, where the string was glued into the pouch. Could you folks be more careful about how you put the bags into the pouches? I've drunk lots of tea with all kinds of wrappings, and I've never seen this kind of thing before.

Really good quality yapon tea!
I absolutely love yapon tea . Really great quality and taste really good. A great alternative to Indian tea and coffee. It also has caffeine and is native to North America. I prefer the dark roast.

Not my cup of tea
Just had my first cup of CatSpring Yaupon. Couldn't finish it. For me to say that it tastes bad is an understatement. They talked about the Indians using it in a ritual that involves vomit, but they doughted it to be the cause of getting sick. I disagree. If I tried to drink 2 cups of this, I would probably vomit. But then, that's just me. You might not have the same reaction. To me it should not have the word "Tea" anywhere in it's description. It doesn't share a taste with any tea that I've ever had. I will not reorder this item.

Not traditional Asi
This is processed in an evaporator. I grew up in the Glades and this has to be slow roasted in a clay bowl to release the flavor. It's an art, not something that can be mass produced. Fire Roasted Warrior’s Yaupon Tea – Yaupon Brothers is a little better but still misses the mark. White man can't Asi his tea. Nothing to "yahola" about here.

Coffee-powered Chef approved
I am NOT a tea drinker. I do coffee. If I could have an IV of coffee strapped in to me at all times, I would. That being said, I love this product. I got the dark roast and I really did enjoy the taste, which (to me) is quite mild and just a little smoky. I've only had one cup and I feel perfectly fine, so I'm guessing that the caffeine content of this is comparable to a nice dark cup of coffee. It doesn't get you buzzed, necessarily, but it's a nice sort of boost that gets you through the morning. The fact that this is sort of a hidden treasure of a plant that we've all recently rediscovered is just icing on the cake. I would absolutely buy it again!

interesting experiment
I'm sure this is an excellent example of not black tea, but it kinda tastes of pencil shavings and turns my stomach a little bit. Anybody want most of a box of not-tea bags?
