Do not overtighten.Versions with Brass Domes: Polished brass, Neo-Black, Polishe Copper, Brushed Copper, Chrome-plated; Versions with Aluminum Domes: Alloy or Polished Alloy(silver),Price varies with finish/material. FALSE ADVERTISING! NOT A CRANE BELL!
Piece of garbage. Not a Crane bell. Save your money and get an ACTUAL Crane bell and not this cheap knock-off!

Loudness is Safety
This little bell is very simple. It is made out of only a few pieces of metal, and is very attractive. None of that really matters, though. What matters is you can hear this thing from space. If you press the hammer down and let this thing go, it makes a pulse of sound that goes about as far as the eye can see. When biking, ringing a bell when approaching an intersection or a blind corner on a trail is the only way you can safely draw attention to yourself. This sound will pierce the veil of a rolled up window and a cabin full of music, or easily bring eyes up and pedestrians to the side of a wooded trail. Simply made and sturdy as the day is long, well worth it in a world of cutesy tools that have forgotten their real purpose.

I would avoid this seller: NICEGO
I bought three a few months ago. Two which listed "shipped and sold by Amazon.com LLB", which were great quality, Japan stamp etc.The one bell from NICEGO arrived stained, damaged, no Japan stamp and likely counterfeit. It's noticeably different from the other two. Each component part of the bell looks like an inferior copy to an authentic Crane bell.Further, the bell arrived with a stain on the dome and a top nut which was dented. Pretty disappointing.I would recommend only purchasing when it is sold by and shipping from Amazon.com LLB only, and specifically avoid NICEGO

Received a different item than the Crane Bell!!
I ordered a Crane Suzu Lever Strike Brass Bell and received one manufactured by Origin 8. The sticker on the package stated that the bell was a Crane Suzu, which it clearly was not. Obvious this was an intentional attempt to pass off a different product. I did not even open the package and immediately requested a return. Thankfully amazon is great and immediately gave me a refund and will be paying return shipping.I had read a review or two on here before I placed my order that stated that this was an issue with the vendor J & L Cycle Llc. Before I placed my order I made sure that I was not ordering from this vendor but another vendor with the order fulfilled by Amazon. However, the order was fulfilled by J & L Cycle Llc. I was either wrong or it was changed during processing. No idea.Unless you do not care if you receive the right item, I would not order this item from Amazon until they get rid of J & L Cycle Llc, which they clearly need to do.Hope this was helpful to somebody, sorry I rated the actual product 1 star, but amazon doesn't really give you a choice here, just wanted to bring this to others attention.

Great bell, but unfinished brass is better!
This is a great bicycle bell. I purchased the same bell about nine months ago but without the neo-black coating. Decided to go with the neo-black brass for my newer black bicycle, and because the first bell did tarnish quite a bit. They are both great bells, but the unfinished brass bell sounds much brighter and resonates far longer. The neo-black coating will prevent tarnishing, but suppresses the sound. I think the performance of the unadulterated brass bell outweighs the tarnish. I'll keep both, but if I had it to do over I would get the plain brass again.

Warning - Vendor sent an imitation not Crane Brand Bell
I wanted a true Crane Bell because it is more adjustable to bigger diameter handlebars...The vendor "Sold by: J & L Cycle LLC" slipped in an Origin8 brand bell.Looks similar but not the same...Just not worth the time and money to send it back...NOTE: If you think this information is important please vote so that other reviewers can be warned...

A good purchase
The bell has a nice clear tone. It is loud enough to be noticed by the people and bikers I pass on a busy street. The bell's factory standard brace bar does not open wide enough for my handlebars so I improvised and used a rubber cord. That works fine. I picked the bronze finish because it was a few dollars cheaper. That was my mistake because in the midday sun, there is a bright reflection off the bell. Otherwise, this is a great bell for me.

Makes her unique.
A delightful lady had several bicycle bells previously and they didn't hold up. She used them to cheerfully announce her presence with her wheeled walker. I replaced her last previous one with this classy bell. It looks impressive, was easy to install, and is easy for her to operate. She can vary the intensity of the bell tone by how far she pulls the lever before release. The bell tone is certainly attention-getting, is very loud at maximum release, and lingers unless the bell itself is touched to damp it. If I wanted a bell for my bike to use in areas of heavy crowds, I would definitely buy this.

Nice sounding single ding bell.
I've had a few little cheap bells that just go "dink dink", half the time people don't notice until you're right up to them. This bell is not that, it makes a nice sounding loud "ding" that you can ring out well back of people so they have lots of time to move as you come up to them. The only problem is when you are going slow and ring out closer to people it might scare them because you sound closer than you are. If you put a finger on the bell you can give a pretty loud metallic "click" sound that is quieter than the bell if you wish.

Damn, that's loud & clear!
Had a smaller, minimalistic bell (Knog Oi), nobody was able to hear me in the city, and I barely got a good ring half the time. Decided to try this out.Looks great, installation is easy, sturdy, & every strike is audible & distinct. Might be a bit big for people who want that minimalistic look on their bike, but you can't compromise style for something that can save your life. Especially how everyone has their headphones on, listening to music at ear damaging volumes.

Great at first but fails in crummy weather
This bell is beautiful and was so so loud when I first got it - BUT I keep my bike outside and after the rain/snow it simply makes almost no sound at all. Tried fixing /adjusting and greasing but to no avail - My previous bells have not been as loud at first but have held up through crappy winters much better.

Verdaderamente sonoro

Nice bell, does not fit most tricycles but....
It's a really nice shiny and loud bell. I bought it for my sons Radio Flyer tricycle but it was too big for the handle bars so I had to improvise wrapping electrical tape tightly around in the same spot a dozen times to thicken it up and put the bell on, it's not going anywhere now and the tape is not noticeable.
