Perfect for me, maybe not everyone.
This is a great sharpener when you're not looking for a super fine edge. There are pull through tungsten/carbide sharpeners in this style that will deliver a razor edge to a tin can. This one seems to be just shy of a keen, or scary sharp, razor edge, just on the verge of shaving, with my particular set of knives. For what I'm doing that makes this perfect, so no real complaints, but I have seen better results from other sharpeners in the same style. On the other hand though, the suction cup is great, and functions well, even on a porous counter top, for well beyond long enough to sharpen a knife, and that's handy.

Very good but It could be better.
They work but I don't think they need to be position the way they are, In my opinion they are not better then other cheaper knife sharpeners, I think this item here is much easier to use simple because you don't need to have it in one position all the time. http://www.amazon.com/AccuSharp-1-001-Knife-Sharpener/dp/B00004VWKQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1433018373&sr=8-2&keywords=knife+sharpenerBut I'm not saying this particular knife sharpener isn't good, because it is, it looks better and the style is pretty good so some people might like to have this better. The ability to stick it to a counter it's pretty useful it's also a bit safer for most people. I do recommend it, if you need one.

A clever knife sharpener.
I saw a demonstration of this sharpener on one of those shopping networks under a different brand name. I've always wished that I could have a set of kitchen knives that performed even half as well as some I've seen on TV. I have some expensive knives, and have been using a simple sharpening rod on them. I never mastered the art of being quick at this as many professional chefs are, but I can get a bit above average sharpness on the one I use most for cutting up raw meats. It will hold the sharpness for a good while, but there's no way I could ever hope to get it to slice through a soft tomato effortlessly as they show on TV. This Blade Butler, though, shows some promise — although I didn't have any soft tomatoes handy to try with it.Instructions say to pass the blade through the sharpener 3 to 5 times in order to get optimum sharpness. I'd say 5 or 6 passes is more like it. With that many passes, it's not really razor sharp, but I can cut up chuck roasts or fish very nicely. With the same knife I can dice onions very well after using this sharpener.I'm not so certain that this sharpener will last very long, though. Given the many reviews of this product under a variety of brand names here at Amazon, I would not be surprised to discover that the lever used to lock down the suction will break as many reviewers have reported, nor would I doubt that the product will lose its ability to sharpen well for very long. At least the Blade Butler is competitively priced for its build quality, so I will be pleasantly surprised if it lasts longer than many of its reviewers elsewhere say it will. The TV demo says this sharpener works on serrated blades, but I was not able to do this. The TV demo also says that this sharpener will NOT work on sharpening scissors. Not a bad little sharpener for its low price from Blade Butler, but I would avoid opting for the higher priced brands.

Good sharpener
Got this to use for sharpening my knives for hunting. Its ok. It fits in the palm of your hand. The suction kind of sucks. Depends on where you suction it i would imagine. It sharpens fairly well. I just hold around the base then sharpen my knife. Takes about 4-5 passes with light pressure. Great for when you have no power for an electric sharpener. Now we will see how long it lasts

Happy I Bought the Master Chef Professional Knife Sharpener
I finally tried it! Not only does the suction work and it held it firmly on my counter, it actually sharpened my knife. I'm impressed that such a small device works so well. My knife wasn't very dull, but it wasn't as sharp and cutting as smoothly as when it was new. The sharpener was very easy to use. I simply followed the directions and swiped the knife through the little sharpeners. Now my knife cuts smoothly and is extra sharp again. There may be more advanced and larger models, but I feel this does the job well. I like this so much I'm considering ordering a couple more to give as gifts. It's small enough for a stocking stuffer. The one problem I am having with it is it won't stay stuck on my cabinet. I thought I would try putting it there. This isn't a big problem for me, I thought it would be a good place to keep it, instead of a drawer. I'm going to try putting it on the side of my refrigerator, which is actually closer to the counter I work on. I simply do not want it out on my counter because it's not something I'll be using daily.I think the price was good, fast shipping and I'm very happy with my purchase.

Decent for the price --It sucks nicely (at the table:)
The sharpener is just a basic sharpener with opposing abrasive surfaces coming to a "V" shape. It does not have a guide to keep the blade at the same exact angle for a precisely tuned edge, but is just a basic sharpener. For the price, it is pretty decent. The suction on the bottom is a nice touch, seems to grip any reasonably smooth surface very well, & feels really solid in its grip & construction. This should make it more precise than one that is just hand-held.

Great Little Sharpener!
I did not expect this sharpener to work as well as it does. I had trouble, at first, getting the little lever down to suction the sharpener to my counter top, because I felt like the plastic lever was going to break. But, I went ahead and pushed it down, and it securely suctioned on. I have an inexpensive paring knife that I use for everything. Consequently, it becomes dull fairly often. After using this sharpener (making a few more swipes on the sharpener area than suggested, for the first sharpening), I could not believe how sharp my knife was. In fact, I made another order for some to have as small tuck-in gifts. Also, the size is perfect. I just put it in my knife drawer and its ready when I need it. On a different note..be careful after sharpening...I now have a several tiny nicks on my hands that I received while getting used to my sharper-than-normal knife!
