File Cabinet Locking Bar. Fits 2 Drawer File Cabinets. Includes Cobalt Drill Bit. (Gray)

A one handed installation. I had Shoulder surgery and one of my temporary caretakers stole something. They also had access to my file cabinet. Being that they were bonded didn't deter them. After I discovered the theft I found that they had looked into other things in my home. I felt the need to close my Bank and Visa accounts. I also changed my security code to my system. I had to reopen all accounts and make changes for my direct deposits. Installing this bar was too little, too late, but I wanted to let it be know what can happen. I purchased this File Bar and the recommended Combination Padlock. It works well and is very sturdy. Installation is very easy. As I have to wear a post op sling I only have one arm/hand to work with. I was able with, one hand, to install this Locking Bar. No problem with the drill bit.

Easy to install... took 10 minutes, literally. My files are now safe & secure, cabinet is locked tight with an extra level of security that assures me no one is peeking. However, Installation instructions are not well written and diagrams are useless.

I purchased two of these, one for a wooden file cabinet and the second for the more common metal file cabinet. Both cabinets are the two drawer type. The locking bars came with both wood screws and metal screws so all the components needed were included. The correct drill bit is also included which was nice. The instruction are clear and they also included a link to a video for those that like a more visual set of instructions. To install the bars the tools I used of mine were a drill, a level and a screw driver, the level was not strictly needed but made the install simpler. I installed both locking bars in less that 30 minutes!

It does what it is supposed to do, and does it well IMO.

Locking Bar is well made and durable quality, It's fairly easy to install and even comes with a small drill bit and screws so you can pre drill the holes prior to inserting the screws in the brackets,( helpful tip you can use also disregard the the supplied bit/screws and use Self-Drilling Drive Sheet Metal Screws)so far it's working great, I'm currently using it for my 2 file drawers + small drawer cabinet.

Even though my exsting two drawer filing cabinet suits my needs, I was going to purchase a new filing cabinet for a more secure lock. All of the cabinets I looked at had flimsy locks. I purchased the locking bar and it solved my problem! The bar makes the cabinet very secure. My husband installed the bar in less than 15 minutes (have to go to the website and view the video to install). I purchased the ABUS 55/40 1.5" lock and now my files are secure.
