Great buckle, shipped fast!

Fast delivery, good value. The US civil war style buckle looks great and appears to be fairly durable, especially when considering the price ($7.94). I almost bought a very similar buckle at a flea market a couple of weeks ago, but my wife convinced me it looked cheesy. In contrast, she likes the look of this buckle very much, says it's my nicest buckle. Time will tell as far as long term durability. I hesitated to buy this buckle because the two existing reviews were extremely disparate. However, if you go to the reviews of a very similar buckle (the CS civil war Confederate Army buckle), you will find perhaps more balanced and accurate reviews of this essentially same item. I'm glad I bought this buckle, and am wearing it right now. july 2013. It's been over a year since I wrote the above review, and I still wear the buckle now and then. For the money, a good deal. For about 4 times the price, you can get a solid brass US civil war style buckle that definitely would look better. UPDATE OCTOBER 2013. The finish was wearing off, looked not so good. In desperation decided to buff the heck out of it - Nothing to lose. Pleasant suprise. It is solid brass under that antiquey finish. It polished up real nice, looks great. I am wearing this shiney brass buckle as I type this. Delighted.

Works as intended. Smaller than I thought but looks great. Doesn't weigh that much which I like not having a 1 lb weight dragging my belt down.

So I bought this because it says it's full brass. Looks nice and sturdy in the photos. What I got was a disappointment. First it's alot smaller than I thought. The one I had previously was like 3x2. This one is like 2x1.5. and second, it looks and feels kinda flimsy, almost like plastic. It's thin like stamped sheet metal, the hook feels like I will break after a few days, and the belt loop clasp thing is like a shaped coat hanger. It's fine I guess but it don't look like I could hold up anything. Haven't tried it yet but if it holds up, I will edit the review accordingly

This is NOT solid brass. It might have a super thin brass-like coating, but they really should be truthful when they advertise their products, and this is very misleading, and it's intentional. You will get a zinc product with a brassy coating but not solid brass!!
