I am so grateful to find this gem. It helped me get back into embroidery. Very well written and contains easy to follow instructions as well as beautiful photos.

Inspiring, beautifully and clearly written from the heart, easy to follow instructions and gorgeous photos. I absolutely love this book! I’m a total beginner to embroidery and was able to complete a little stitch sampler in a few hours. I can’t wait to start creating my own designs and embellishing my clothes and other things!

I didn't know this is what I needed! I love the 'create your own pattern' style, instead of following a pattern exactly. Pros and cons to both styles, but I haven't seen enough of this one. Beautiful pictures, excellent (and realistic) examples, a TON of stitch help, and definitely worth every penny. Do yourself a favor and buy the physical version. It's beautiful for leaving out on the table in between projects. I honestly am in love with this book.

I recently purchased a new stitchery book, this one Mystical Stitches by Christi Johnson spoke to me I have also felt that stitching for me was like a ritual of sorts, when I make something for another person I always think good thoughts for that person. Similar thoughts or intentions go into my goddess and healing dolls. Reading the book I felt like the writer was speaking to me directly or had pulled thoughts from my head and put them on paper when it dawned on me that other people feel the same way about their stitching work. The book covers the basics of hand embroidery, tools, fabrics, floss and threads and stitches. It includes how to make the basic stitches, how to prepare your hoop and trace fabric. It's a good book for the beginner as well as the seasoned needlecrafter. There are pages of symbols and includes full size patterns to get you started.

This is a cool book. If you are on the edge and think you'd like it, you probably will. There are instructions for getting into needlework as well as a lot of pictures and descriptions of symbols. As a creative person, I found it to be stimulating. Looking through the pictures of the author's work is fun and generates inspiration. The design of the book itself is really nice. Overall, I'm glad I got it.

I never thought I could create such a beautiful patters and this book help me with it! Try unique spiritual approach to embroidery. The only thing I wish, is that the small patters were bigger to just copy. They are too small so I have draw a bigger version.

The spirit with which this book was written was truly beautiful. The author's heart is in the right place. She offers several instructions that are very clear and well illustrated, projects of assorted applications. The images are so well done and inspirational. She even includes rituals and a spiritual component to the meditative process of hand embroidery - so it's not just about getting the colours and designs, but about your intentions - relaxation and how the entire experience can help you personalize your clothes, accessories or gifts to be an expression of the heart. This book is a MUSt for anyone who hand-embroiders - beginner or expert = something for everyone.

When your craft is heartfelt and comes from your very soul, this book speaks to you. It obviously came from Christi Johnson's heart. Probably nothing different than any other Stitch Library, but far more pleasurable to read and learn from.
