I recently tried the Smoked Wood Starter Kit from the Cooking Gift Set Company, and I was genuinely impressed. As someone who enjoys grilling and exploring the world of smoking meats, this kit made it easy! What I appreciated most was the balance between quality and convenience.The set came nicely packaged, making it an excellent gift for BBQ lovers or home chefs. It includes a stainless-steel smoker box, hickory smoked salt packet and apple wood chips, which were sealed separately and labeled clearly. The included instructions were straightforward and beginner-friendly, offering helpful tips on pairing wood types with meats and veggies.While the instructions recommend use with either a charcoal or propane grill, I used a patio style electric grill to smoke my pork shoulder. It worked perfectly and was able to keep the temperature easily between 200 to 250 degrees. Delish!One note: if you don’t already have a meat thermometer or if you wish to experiment beyond the apple wood chips included within, I recommend upgrading to the Deluxe Smoking Kit, also offered by this company. It offers a broad selection of wood types as well as a meat thermometer and grill scraper in addition to the smoker box. This variety of popular wood chips would make it easy to try out different flavor profiles without buying large quantities. The meat thermometer is essential to monitoring the internal meat temperature quickly to avoid losing too much smoke/heat in the process.

I love to cook and grill, yet had never tried smoking meat or fish. This set was a perfect way to give it a try. Easy to use and high quality, makes a great gift, too! The salmon turned out amazing. Looking forward to making it again!

From when you first open the box, to using the kit, it's really an enjoyable experience.I am not a grill master by far, this was the first time I ever tried a smoking kit, but it was really fun. The recipes are a bit intricate but if you watch the instructional video with it, it's a piece of cake!We decided to make burgers with the cherry wood. I had an urge for fruity.The chips are a bit messy so deff pour them in the container outside. The smoker is really sturdy and made of excellent metal. It fit perfectly on the grill without taking up too much room for burgers.It started smoking right at the 30min markThe smoke made the whole grill smell really yummy.We were a bit skeptical about slow cooking but stuck to the instructions.Burgers came out juicy with a hint of cherry.All in all It was a fun new thing to try!I think the kit itself would be a great gift for an avid griller or someone who loves to slow cook meat. We are excited to try it with brisket and ribs!I think it would work better for a party where you can keep you grill on all day, we just tried it for dinner and leaving the grill on for a hour plus was a bit daunting for two people to eat burgers.I really enjoy all the cooking gift sets I've tried so far. They are a small way to try something new! Especially fun for girls nights in!I can't wait to try the dumpling one and see what other awesome kits they come out with next!

This was a great gift for my hubby who just recently started smoking meats. I love that the instructions feel like a whole experience and the box is heavy and high quality.Can’t wait to try the smoked salmon recipe that’s included. Already taste tested the smoked sea salt, delicious.

I love the presentation of the box, the note, instructions ,photos with recipes (great that you have a vegetarian option!), it feels special to open. I scanned the QR code and watched the starter video which is awesome and so helpful!I love the notes on the woodchips box itself about tasting notes and how to pair.Overall a really nice set and would make a perfect gift for someone! I think these kits are also great "white elephant" for the holidays as I think many different people would enjoy the set.
