Hydor Koralia Magnum 5 Aquarium Circulation Pump, UL 1650 gph 8W

I have a 75 gallon SPS reef tank, which relies upon strong circulation to thrive. I am currently running about 3000 gallons per hour of circulation (2x Hydor Evo 1050, Tunze Nano, Mag Drive 950 return).Prior to trying the Hydor, I owned the EcoTech Marine VorTech MP-40. Had no end of trouble with that very popular pump. After repeated warranty dealings,I sold the unit on Ebay at a sizeable loss in only 3 months, with most of those 3 months the pump being down and unusable.Using a home-built wave timer and the Magnum 7 for the past 4 months, I am very very happy. The pump is quiet, puts out massive flow, and has only calcifiedonce and seized in 4 months (kalkwasser). It is easy to strip down and clean. The ceramic bearings ensure long life.I have reached out to Hydor with questions and have received rapid responses from their tech support.Even went ahead and purchased a used Hydor 8 to try even more flow.It is my opinion that people who insist on EcoTech are overpaying. Try the Magnum and a basic wavetimer and you will be pleased.

This Koralia is everything I expected, maybe even a little more powerful than I first imagined. It is so quiet, quality made product. Made to last, as long as you clean the impellor with the maintenance. This Koralia 6 works wonders for my 100 gallon tank. It was a little too strong as first for my fish to get used to. I also placed it low toward the bottom 1/3 of my tank, otherwise the wave effects are too powerful.I do not reccommend this for a tank 60 gal or less...in fact probably best for 150+ gallons.

Great water circulation in my 165 gallon aquarium, my reef is very active and flourishing well. It is a great addition in my tank. I highly recommend this product.

Great pump. Moves a lot of water but the magnet/ suction cup is weak. If it's going on a tank with thick glass or acrylic it doesn't hold as well as I would like.

I fell for this pump, it keeps my aquarium and moving with high circulation and my fish love to swim against the strong current it produces, not to mention keeping the substrate clean as well.Hydor Koralia recommend for all types of aquarium.

These pumps are ok ... when they work They are the DC version which can be used in wave makers, so when they start up they don't make that annoying clicking sound. The issue is that I can only seem to get about 18 months out of these pumps before they stop working. A replacement impellor sold separately (also expensive) does not seem to be the golden bullet either. I have gone through three of these pumps now, and at over $80 a pop, the value is very poor. It does not matter if I clean them impeccably every 3 months, or leave them until they stop working. I use two of these of varying sizes on my 200 gallon reef aquarium. You might get good performance if they are left on 24/7, but in a wave maker (what they are designed for), they have too short a life for me.

I finally found a Circulation pump that is quiet and does what it is suppose to do, Work and push water.I would recommend this product to a friend.
