Excellent brass tip cleaner. Stable on the workbench. Perhaps on the more expensive side, compared to others, but it doesn’t get pushed around as you use it, and it’s real brass wool, not coated steel which wrecks your tip.

There is not a lot to say about brass shavings used to clean soldering iron bits. It “just works” and being Weller it contains real brass that doesn’t ruin the bits. For those that have only cleaned bits with a wet sponge, the advantage is that it tends to remove all the solder, whereas with a sponge you often have old solder clinging to the tip of the bit… I would have given 5 stars, except the price is pretty high for such a basic item.

I’ve only just started soldering, so I wouldn’t say I’m an authority on the subject, but I found using a damp sponge difficult to keep the tip clean of my soldering iron. So I decided to buy this and it is so much better. I can see the difference after scrubbing in this brass wool ball, and because it’s from Weller then you know it’s definitely brass so it won’t damage your tips. I’ll certainly be buying more of these as this one wear out after use.

Weller always seems to get it right. And this little accessory is no exception. The base is very good quality, has a soft, silicon finish and most importantly has enough weight to keep it in one place on the workbench when cleaning your soldering iron tip. Brass sponge is the right density to do the job. If you need a soldering iron tip cleaner on your workbench... this does the job.

Je cherchais ce genre d'outil pour nettoyer les petites pannes lorsque je soude des fils électriques en cuivre. Inévitablement, au cours des travaux, la panne se charge d'un excès de soudure. Un va-et-vient en tournant dans la masse métallique (à chaud) nettoie bien les pointes, même fines.
