The original power supply in my outdoor fixture was a constant current supply. It had broken and was causing the light to flicker. I found the original replacement on Amazon, but it was about 3 to 4 times the cost of this unit. The Wattage of this unit was slightly higher, and this unit was a constant Voltage supply instead of the original's constant current. LEDs want to be biased with a constant current. When using a constant Voltage supply typically a series resistor is used with the LEDs to adjust and set a constant current through the LEDs. I did not have a resistor with the "high" Wattage rating needed to place in series and set the correct current through the LEDs. So instead, I used series diodes. Each diode added would drop the Voltage to the LEDs and lower the current. I picked the number of series diodes based on the measured current. I knew that the original supply was specified to provide 700mA of constant current. So, I added and removed series diodes until I had a constant current close to 700mA. Reassembled the outdoor light with the new parts and it works great. No flickering, just a nice constant light output and the repair cost me 1/3 the cost of using an original replacement.

Installed this in my run to power some LED strip lights. Pretty straight forward install and worked as advertised. Only 2 shortcomings. First for me is the wire opening on the 120V side are very small. It was difficult to get even 14 gauge wire into the opening. I realize it is not carrying a lot of current, but I still prefer to use wire no smaller than 14 gauge in 120V circuits. The second was the mounting holes were slightly blocked by the body. Might not be a problem in you are mounting in an easy assessable space, but working in a tight space where you were mounting blind took a bit of effort. We will see how they hold up after my first trip with them. But if you need to run some 12V items off of a 120V circuit, these do the job.

We are installing LED strip lights in our basement. This allows us to connect to a light switch. This product is easy to use. Props to this company, my fist package was empty, looks like it was cut / torn and maybe the product fell out. They replaced it. I will buy agin from them.

Installed 2 ft of 12V LED strips in my printer. Got 25 hours of on-time with the first power supply. Autopsy revealed that the primary filter capacitor failed. Some signs of overheating of the primary control chip, but its hard to say if it wasn't due to capacitor leakage. The unit is potted in silicone for dust/moisture resistance, so a live bench test wasn't possible.Using the second one from the box now, but shopping for a better one, as this one uses crappy components.

Very compact power supply, ideal for small projects using 12V relays and other devices such as small motors or LED lights. For example, I added a strobe light in front of my home, that I turn ON when my garage door is open so alert pedestrians or electrical scooter on the sidewalk indicating that a car is going to enter or to exit from the garage.

I actually used this on a special project. The cooling fan on my welder died. I have several fans from salvaging some things and while the OEM fan was 120V ac, all of my salvaged fans are dc, and the ones that were same size as the OEM fan were 12V dc. Although this product is pretty much an led driver, it’s worked like a champ for my special project. It’s small enough to hide inside the case. It’s got a cooling fan right on it so no worries about overheating. So far, it’s done exactly what I needed it to do and I don’t have any complaints, which is rare for me.
