Fun to build with
These are the best toy! Even my grown son-in-law loves playing with his son. Really great for eye/hand coordination. They are pricey though.

Love them
Our 5 year old son and niece love magna tiles! They are easy for them to use independently and they come up with the most creative structures!

Great as an expansion pack
Our family (and extended family and close friends) all swear by Magna-Tiles. I first became familiar with them when my best friend's kids asked for them for one birthday and then asked for MORE tiles the following year so they wouldn't fight over them. I didn't see them in person until my son started preschool and they had them there. I couldn't understand what all the fuss was about until I actually used them.I bought this 32-piece set for travel and quickly realized that it wasn't really enough pieces to do much. I then bought the 48 pc set and realized that the box is actually longer than the original 100 pc set I purchased. I think both the 32 and 48 pc sets are great as an expansion pack but you should really start out with the Magna-Tiles Clear Colors 100 Piece Set if you have enough money---I found it cheaper on Jet.com--for it as I felt like the Magna-Tiles 12148 Clear Colors 48 pc DX set Toy is also only good as an expansion pack.My favorite pieces from this set are the door frame and door. I also love the door but I wish there was more than one. The hole-punched triangles, my husband thought, were pretty useless though they make pretty good windows as well. The arch is really fantastic as well. But I stand by feeling that this is really an expansion set and you should start with the 100 so you have a solid, well-rounded set to play with for years to come.

Wonderful toys that your children will play with for years
About four years ago we bought the solid color 48 piece Magna-Tiles set for our then three year-old daughter. She loved playing with it. Flash forward four years and our daughter still plays with the original set. However, she now has a four year-old brother that fights with her for pieces on an almost daily basis. To mitigate the almost daily warfare we bought a clear set for his birthday.I did not purposely buy the clear set, which has the exact same pieces as the 48 piece solid color set. I got it because it was Amazon Prime available and the solid color set was not. When I bought the clear set it was only a couple of dollars more expensive than the solid color set. The clear was selling for $67 and the solid color set was selling for $65.Fortunately, my two kids agreed that the solid set is my daughter's and the clear set is my son's. So no more warfare concerning this one toy!The quality of this set is as good as the original set we bought. The pieces are durable and can take a reasonable amount of banging. I should add that neither of my children is rough with their toys, so rarely do toys in my house break. (Neither throws their toys, jumps on them, etc.) I should add the pieces are the exact same proportion as our older set so pieces between the two are interchangeable.I highly recommend this toy. It may seem pricey but it lasts and your kids will play with them for a long time.

Good investment!
The Magna-Tiles have been perfect for my 3 grandsons. The boys range in age from just under two to eight years old and it is a favorite toy for all of them. My youngest grandson was just over a year and a half old when I got him his set. I wasn't sure how he would do with them, but he quickly learned and plays with them daily. The things he builds aren't nearly as elaborate as what the oldest two build, but the Magna-Tiles are very age adaptable. The oldest ones build castles while the youngest one builds a box to put his Hot Wheels in and a track to run the cars on. He holds the tiles in front of his face to look through them and tell us what color they are. They all have fun building things and knocking them over…..and as a bonus, the magnets make clean up easy! I continue to add to each set since they have been so popular. They are pretty expensive, but the time spent playing with them make them well worth the price. This is one item that I definitely don't see being placed in next year's garage sale at a cheap price. They will be used for years.

Worth every penny!
There is nothing quite like the loud crashing sound hard plastic makes on a wood floor to let you know your kids are having a great time! In all seriousness, these are one of the best toys we’ve ever purchased, the kids play with them for hours and create all kinds of designs. They work collaboratively and play with them independently. Kids of all ages love them.I have invested in several sets over the years and these are also a toy that holds its value and can be resold.

Creativity in a Box (or two)
My daughter LOVES these Magna-Tiles. She loves to play with them together or on her own. I point this out because Daddy/Daughter building involves towers and other structures. The higher the better. When we're done, it's time for Daughter-zilla to create a not-so-natural disaster that takes the building down. There are no worries, because the tiles are durable. When my daughter plays with these tiles on her own, she creates shapes and patterns in 2 dimensions on the carpet, the kitchen floor or the fridge. Squares and triangles merge together into a multicolored, crystalline work of abstract art. She truly gets lost in her own world when she's making her pieces of Magna-Tile "art."Pros:1. Encourage creative play whether it's building towers or making artwork.2. Durable.3. Building requires finesse and refined motor skills.Cons:1. Expensive2. To build anything truly tall or challenging, you need a second set.The combination of 1. and 2. made me give this product 4 stars instead of 5.Despite their somewhat steep price, I would recommend these tiles.

Fun!
My 3 yr old grandson loves these and so do the adults in his life. They're lots of fun for building. Good for independent play, if we can resist!
