Well written
We read several Iceland books before our trip. This quick read covers everyday living as well as history. Highly recommend.

Superb
A brilliant guide to the unique way of life of the Icelanders. I really enjoyed learning about their history and their cultural quirks, particularly their philosophy on life and how it was shaped by their geographical isolation. I loved reading about their cuisine and their humor too, and how they go about their daily lives. Highly recommend for anyone traveling to Iceland – you’ll enjoy your trip more with the understanding offered here.

Know before you go
We have been to Iceland many times, my husband has many cousins living there. I found this book to be accurate, and informative. Easy to read, too. While Icelanders tend to be tolerant, it is best to understand their culture. An example, is the complete cleansing shower (nude) before entering a swimming pool or the Blue Lagoon. The history, both recent and ancient, was interesting. For example, we had met and talked with Vigdis Finnbogadóttir in 1996, but I learned new material about her in this book.

Helps you understand the Icelandic culture
This little book gives you information on Iceland’s beginnings & helps you understand the people & their customs. It is not a travel guide but would be very helpful reading if you are going to Iceland.
