EXCELLENT BRIDGE TYPE CAMERA
The Nikon Coolpix bridge camera is no longer being produced, it has been replaced by the P950, which has received as good reviews to limits in stability in focusing at Zoom ranges. My original P900 suffered a failure during to accidently storing it at temperature higher than recommended and it wasn't worth the cost of. My new P900 is a refurbished; you can't the difference from a brand new one. The P900 has an amazing zoom capability of 24 to 2000 mm (equivalent 135) which very good for nature photography. It has feature many bridge cameras do not, such as a viewfinder. It has many adjustable modes, for example modes for photographing the moon, panoramic ,and bird-watching. It doesn't match the image quality of a good DSLR, but regardless, the quality is very good. For it's zoom and other capabilities, it smaller and lighter that a DSLR for example with a 500mm zoom lens. It my not be the camera for the serious photographer, but it certainly is a worthwhile camera for the serious nature watcher.

Great camera
I bought the refurbished version of this camera, works great. I love the quality and the zoom is amazing. Still got to learn how to properly use the manual setting but I’m sure that once I do I’ll be even happier with it. I’ve tried long exposure as well, quite amazing what it’ll show you at night. I’m not a professional photographer but I do enjoy snapping some nice pics. The geese were probably some 30-40 feet away when I took the picture, I could zoom in more and see the detail in their feathers.Overall happy to its the product, I’d recommend it.

You'll not be needing any other cameras for a while...
This is a fine mega-zoom digital camera. The reach of the telephoto is most impressive and resolution even way out there is very good. At wide angle, I've noticed my sun shield is visible but that's easy to fix (take it off or zoom a bit!), battery life is good plus, menu structure is above average and intuitive, and the learning curve hasn't been bad at all. I'm coming from Fuji mega zooms and the only thing I miss is the easily changed AAA battery power. I'd say necessary accessories are: a good tripod is a must, replacement batteries and charger, UV filter and sun shade, and a good case. Highly recommended if you don't want to go with expensive and cumbersome DSLR's and their lenses.

Love this camera!!!
when I pur hated it I didn't realize it was refurbished. it didn't come w a book but I am familiar with Nikon products so it wasn't too hard to figure out. Love this camera. it has a wide angle lens and a huge zoom as u can see from the shots of moon. It would have been nice to have a book though. The only thing bad about this camera is where the hook up to a tripod is. The lens is fairly heavy and the tripod does.not hold it up without a support on the lens.

My second P900
I purchased a Nikon P900 about two years ago from a local camera shop. I am a birder and limited on how much weight I can handle, so this camera is perfect (2#). The articulating screen quit working and Nikon said it could be $60 to $260 to repair, so I ordered this camera with extended warranty from Square Trader. My experience with the camera over the years is that it is great as long as you understand the weaknesses. Small sensor that works best in good lighting, no raw files (which is not a negative as long as you just share with friends and post online), and even with vibration reduction, needs a real steady hand or mono/tripod at the far end. If you are going for Birds in Flight, this is not your camera, although I get lucky at times. The biggest improvement I would like to see is a larger viewfinder with a cup (I wear glasses), and a larger sensor of course. I would recommend you try it at a camera store (if you are lucky enough to have one within 50 miles) before you buy it. Oh, and it does not come with a paper manual. I downloaded the manual from the Nikon site and took to a local Staples to have printed and bound. That way I could read through it, try the features, makes notes, etc.If you order here, I would suggest adding a cheap 67mm lens cap from Amazon with a hole in the side so you can use fishing line or something to attach to the camera. I lost two lenses (box cap is not attachable) before doing this. Also, get a set of third party batteries with charger. The camera does not come with separate battery charger and charges in the camera. Because of the motorized zoom, uses power. Keep the extras in your pocket so you don't run out.

Purchased Refurbished nikon
The camera worked but on sports settings the camera would freeze up, I returned camera I was only refunded half of my money, now I am out $350 and no camera. Bad business practice camera was not in full working order. It is a scam watch this seller.

Good starter camera for the novice photog.
I bought this to take to Moab for pics of my son's rock crawler. I was recommended this model by a photog friend as I didn't want something too fancy but more than a point and shoot. I've been playing with it and it takes great photos. It came in the original packaging and for a refurb is in great condition. All pieces and parts work.

Increadible zoom.
Great feature loaded camera that allows the beginner to catch high quality photos. I don't expect to take photos like a pro, but the zoom on this camera and burst photo mode helped my catch photos at my daughters state track meet that I never could have before. My previous cameras have always been utilitarian... just a means of capturing memories. This one make photography fun (for me).
