The Standard for Flavorful Char Siu
I grew up on Noh Char Siu seasoning and it's been a favorite on pork for over 40 years. I like to use it on pork butt. I cut it into thick slices, leaving the fat on. I ignore the directions to add water and instead place the pork strips and in a gallon freezer bag and dump the seasoning on top. I close up the bag and then knead it into the meat. Let it sit in the fridge for at couple of hour, up to a full day. The longer it marinates, the better. I just come back to the fridge every couple of hours, and turn the meat from the outside and move the meat around in the bag to make sure that all the meat gets well coated and soaks up the flavors. Then I either grill or broil on high, turning every 7 minutes or so until it's done. The fat will pick up a nice char and the seasoning will get thick and sticky. When it's done through, I'll put it all into a large serving bowl and slice up a few chunks at a time, returning them to the bowl as I go. This keeps the meat warm and tender. And it really doesn't need much else for serving. We typically eat it with rice and sliced cucumbers. The meat also works wonderfully in fried rice, wonton soup, and Vietnamese banh mi.These bags shipped four to a pack from the third party seller I ordered from, with fulfillment by Amazon. I used to be able to find it in Asian markets for about 99 cents a packet, but haven't been able to find them in stores for quite some time, so I stock up when I do find it. It is also available in bigger bags, which might be a good value, but if you are ordering from Amazon, make sure to check the bag size first.

Great way to make pork.
This 'barbeque' marinade is so easy. Just mix the powder with water, marinade overnight, and roast in the oven. It's typically served cold or room temp as great appetizer (with hot chinese mustard), or as a topping for a salad. These packets are tough to find in stores.

It is NOT all natural, but it tastes great.
The taste was really, really great!!! BUT it has a weird, unnatural pink color, and it made the chicken-on-a-stick we cooked have that same weird, unnatural pink color. I didn't know it had red dye in it, or I wouldn't have bought it. I'd buy it on a regular basis if they'd stop putting the red dye in it. Dye and artificial ingredients are a show stopper for me.
