Q: Does this remove necessary minerals ?

It's a shower head, unless your drinking water from the shower head it doesn't make any difference, you get your daily minerals from food and tap or bottled water.

Q: My scalp has been itchy since installing this, has anyone else had this issue? I've never had this problem before and it's not dandruff.

Possibly because the filtered water is soft water; it's softening the coat of hard water deposits on your scalp. To find out: if your bathroom shower, tub, sink and toilet are a dull grayish film the same has formed on your head. Unlike lotion or sunscreen loosening the film on your body, the metals just remain. Work a fair amount, a Tbl, of Almond oil or Jojoba oil or Castor oil or olive oil or a combo of 2, onto your scalp. Cover with a shower cap or wrap overnight to soften. Warm is good. Use a good scalp cleaning shampoo to wash away the hard water coating on the scalp. Dandruff is dead skin cells. Hard water deposit is microscopic iron particles bonded, clinging magnetically together. May take 2-4 tries to open up the pores again but itching should stop after treating once or twice. Cliginac brand Jojoba, and Castor oils or any Olive oil are most like natural body oils.

The shower filter will reduce iron at 66.9%.

Q: Does this help with hard water?

These filters will help reduce the hardness in your water. Not completely as our filters are not a water softener, but will cut down on the heavy metals for nicer showering water.
