Seems high quality but no lock for the blade?
The blade is exactly like the photo. It's a marine grade sailors knife. It is sharp steel. The Marlin spike is sharp and locks out at full extension. It also has a standard release mechanism. It's a handsome little knife. It is perfect for me though it may be a little Bulky for some. My one complaint is that the blade itself does not lock. Though it requires substantial effort to fold and unfold it would be nice if it locked on its own like the spike. Still, I like it. It's a great value for the money and I will definitely put some miles on it. To the manufacturers. Maybe put a lock on the blade and use the spike as the release since I rarely have them both out at the same time. I'm not a sailor but still, safety is safety.

Nicely made tool.
I had been wanting a pocket knife/marlinspike for several years. Though I have a couple of straight marlinspikes I needed one more suitable to carry on a lanyard or in a pocket. This folding marlinspike is very nicely made and works fine around the house and yard.

Great rigging knife
Just what I had expected . Another great knife , built better than many USA brands ! And did I mention the price , Shipping and delivery ? You can't get any better than this very well made knife sharp , ready to go to work , on small , medium , and large rope ! The marlin spike is a great angle and seems to get in under faster, Hell I just like it ! The build , craftsmanship , steel , are great !

For all us knot-heads
My daughter dog leash gets shorter and shorter as she walks her dog. Npo, tyhis isn't magic, it's all about knots. Many, many verry nasty knots, one on top of another until her leash looks like a man's balled up fist. Soon or later I will be asked, "Daddy, can you fix this?" I can't tell you how many forks and other instruments I have ruined trying to un-knot her once, straight and long dog leash. This knife is something many watermen carry in their pockets to cut or repair a fouled line. I won't say it's easy or without danger of injury if one is not careful but, when used properly. However, it will make removing those nasty knots a lot easier by opening one or two loops with the marlinspike. This knife is a very useful tool in that endeavor.

Like Boatswain's Knife I had in the U.S. Coast Guard
I owned a similar knife when I was in the U.S. Coast Guard (military issue), and really liked it, so I began looking for one. Wasn't sure this would be like it, but took the chance and ordered it. The knife looks identical to the one I had, and the craftsmanship is excellent; and the weight is good. I would definitely recommend this knife to anyone looking for this style.
