Amazing that the price hasn't changed much over the years, although it's kind of obvious in that there's now no metal frame around the raw edges, but honestly, that doesn't affect performance. Our General humidifier is about 45 years old and still working great; filters don't need to be replaced that often.

Yes, this product can leave a small mess and yes you have to reuse the original frame (which is incredibly easy) That said, you can not beat the price or the performance. I don't have to replace this often but as long as this is available I will not be replacing the frame and pad again. This does the job and then some with the monetary savings.

Old filter had metal frame but this looks like it should work just fine even though ot does not have a metal frame.

The product works just fine, but I ordered the wrong size. After a few modifications with my saw it now fits like it should. Completely my fault, but if the dimensions had been listed it would have helped me. I guessed at the model number and guessed wrong.

Corners and side of filter is damaged and deformed and flakes flew everywhere getting into my EYE as I removed item from the box. The package was left on the deck behind the house where I found it by chance this morning after it rained very hard yesterday and the filter was not the only item in the box, there were also wine glasses. The filter is also without the metal frame so even if it wasn't damaged, it wouldn't fit correctly.

This is not the original General Aire part, but it appears to fit and work properly.

The coating flakes off very easily. If you do purchase, make sure to open the packaging in area that you can clean up afterwards. Looking closer at the original filter in my General 1099, it appears to be a simple plastic mesh, not coated metal. I'll stick with plastic.

bought this for our humidifier and we were not sure if it would work. It fits just right with the existing frame from the one in the humidifier
