Gret Tracker
I have the tracker to monitor my 17-year-old son. He is aware of it. He doesn’t know where it is but he knows I have it. What I really like about it is that it tells you the speed he is driving and if he is takin harsh turns.I would definitely recommend this tracker. You don’t have to charge it. They gave me the first 90 days of service for free.

Just works! No Issues! Don't waste your time with other brands.
I have three ST4500 devices and they work great. Only time i remove them is when I take the vehicles in for service or maintenance. When i do that I swap for the AMERICALOC GL300 GPS Tracker MXW which is battery powered and I can place in the door compartment. Don't waste your time with knockoffs. Americaloc is the best out there.

Works great.
I have tried several others but this is the best. Great price. It works as advertised. No battery to worry about. Plug it into the OBD port and you all set. Very accurate with real time notifications. I have recommended this to friends and family.

A wonderful device
I have both types of GPS tracking devices provided by Americaloc. I wrote an in-depth review of both the company and the device, which you will find in the review section for the GL-300 device section on Amazon. This review is specifically for the ST-4500 tracking device.Having prefaced this review with the previous paragraph, I need to make it clear that, as with any high-tech device, there is a learning curve. Do not let anyone, or any product out there tell you that any high-tech product is as simple as 100% plug & play. While it is true that many high-tech devices provide the ability to start using it the moment you get it, including both tracking devices provided by Americaloc, there are always subtle details which come with a learning curve. I have seen many people write reviews, complaining about a product, but in the end, the complaint is as unfounded as complaining that the sun is hot, or ice is too cold. Most high-tech devices, no matter who manufactures them, have “personalities” (for lack of a better term). In the case of these two trackers provided by Americaloc, each has idiosyncrasies which make it slightly different from the other, and therefore provide benefits for specific users. In addition, any and all GPS tracking devices rely on a kind of “tri-pod” of systems coming together to perform the function you are seeking from a tracking device. The first of the three systems, of course, is the Satellite GPS system. A series of 24 satellites, orbiting the earth, working in unison, to provide information used to pinpoint an earthbound location (and actually, even altitude) if you have the proper secondary and tertiary systems. (In reality, there are many more than 24 satellites, but that is another story. However, 24 is the minimum & specific number of satellites needed to provide the means to supply location and altitude information.) Anyway, this United States Government/Military funded satellite system is the key factor in the entire locating/tracking system. The third system of this “tri-pod” is the Internet. The Internet, along with a personal computer, tablet, or cell phone is needed to put the tracking data into text and graphic format which can easily be seen and used by the end user, and the ultimate reason why they want a GPS tracking device. The second part of the tri-system is the tracking device itself. These devices, take the data provided by the satellite system, based on any specific location of the tracking device, and translate into usable information which is then sent through the Internet to the desired computer, tablet, or cell phone, which is then in-turn read by the user. One other point I should make…. Remember, the satellite GPS system was created for use by the United States military for use in combat. Knowing that the satellite system could be reduced in its accuracy and ability for the general public, as well as foreign governments, President Regan allowed the GPS open to everyone. Please keep in mind that any individual, company or government, other than the United States government, get limited accuracy and somewhat restricted use of the Satellite GPS system. Only the United States military gets complete use and accuracy of the GPS system. In addition, only specific agencies in the United States government are aware of the full capability of the GPS satellite system. For what this is worth to anyone reading this, the level to which the United States government uses the GPS system would be of no use at all to anyone using the system, unless they were planning military attacks. Which if course leads us back to WHY the GPS system has limited use outside the United States military.OK, the quick lesson is over, now the review…As I stated earlier, these two trackers have specific traits which allow it to fit specific needs of various end users. Both of these units are incredibly accurate and perform their duties admirably. The GL-300 is a portable unit and has advantages and disadvantages bases on the very idea of its function. But this review is primarily about the ST-4500.The ST-4500 is a device which is mounted in the specific automobile which the user intends to track. It is mounted into the ODB port of your automobile. (Vehicles made before 1996, which do not have an OBD port, are resigned to use the GL-300.) One note of caution… PLEASE DO NOT FORGET to remove the tracker before you take your vehicle in for service. The servicing of your vehicle requires that the technician plugs the diagnostic computer into the OBD port. The ST-4500 is a small device (about half the size of a standard deck of cards). It would be very easy for the vehicle repair technician to remove the tracking device, with every intention of putting it back, but either forgets to put it back, loses the device, or both. Other than it not really intended to be a unit to be moved from one vehicle to another, having to remove it prior to servicing of your vehicle would be the only downside to this particular type of GPS device. While the device is relatively easy to move from one vehicle to another, I cannot imagine that it would be an ideal situation to purchase this device with the expressed intent of moving it from vehicle to vehicle on a daily basis.I read one user’s review of this device and his overwhelming complaint was that the tracker did not work when his daughter’s car was shut off. (My guess is that he bought it to keep track of his daughter’s where-abouts, particularly when she goes to have a passionate rendezvous with her current romantic interest.) More than likely, he bought this device so as to be covert about its presence. A portable device might be harder to hide when working quickly, and easier to be found. The ST-4500 would appear as an ordinary part of the vehicle. Anyway, he was very upset about the fact that the unit did not operate when his daughter parked her car and shut off the motor. That is the equivalent of saying, “I am very upset that the motor in my car shuts off, just because I turn off the car.” The ST-4500 is a device without a battery, and gets 100% of its power from the vehicle. When the motor is shut off, there is no power to the device, and therefore no tracking is possible.Think about ALL that you want the device to do for you before you decide on the specific tracker you want. While the components are made by two different companies, both have basically the same level of GPS accuracy. But even at that, because they are different units, they provide the service in slightly different ways. If you are going to need a device which is constantly changing vehicles, get the GL-300. If the device is going to remain in one vehicle, then consider the ST-4500. Personally, I love the ST-4500 for the simple reason that I do not have to worry about where it is or if has enough power to make it through the day. If you are going to use the GL-300, I would recommend that you have a USB cable in the car so that you can charge it as needed. However, a cable has limitations, and you may be better off getting the Hard-Wire kit for the GL-300. A USB cable provides constant power and that is never a good idea for any high-tech electronic device, particularly small/compact devices. If the GL-300 is going to need to get most of its power on the road, the Hard-Wire kit is strongly recommended, and I am forced to agree with that. But then that makes the GL-300 a rather expensive device to be able to move from one vehicle to the other, since all the vehicles may need a Hard-Wire kit. As I said, consider ALL aspects for what you are using the tracking device. If you are setting up a fleet of cars, the ST-4500 is easily your best bet; not to mention, it is a tiny bit cheaper. If you are intending to keep track of your daughter’s where-abouts, the ST-4500 may be for you, but the GL-300 may have its own advantages, particularly if she does not have her own car and uses either your car, your wife’s car, or the car belonging to her current romantic interest. If you will be using the device in various vehicles, but do not need to track two vehicles or people at the same time, then the GL-300 is clearly your choice. The service that Americaloc provides is without compare. (Reference my review of the GL-300.) At first, I was not happy with their support, but it turned out that the problem was a chain of events which could not be duplicated in a thousand years. They are always willing to help and are always willing to go the extra mile for their customers. If this level of service lasts, only time will tell; but I cannot review the future, only the present. At present, they have provided better service than I have experienced in more than 20 years.
