I have a 2008 Chevy HHR LT and it was difficult to identify what part to order because it is a factory defect that the outer bowtie comes discolored and will eventually fall off. Just look at HHR's in parking lots. A friend tried to repaind the plasitc outer bowtie and reglue it. I looked great for 3 days. This is official GM part. I wondered if I would have to unsrew the hex bolts underneath the tailgate/ switch mechanism. I did not want to. I was not sure how the bowtie was attached since I had already repainted/ glued it 6 months prior. Here is the deal: the bowtie/ the same that comes from Amazon, Is attached to the vehicle by adhesive. So, in order to attach new Bowtite emblem, you must remove old with out scratching paint. Notice 2 studs in picture and peel back adhesive strip. That's what there is once you need once old emblem is removed. After much discussion, I said screw it, I'm going to do take it off gently. It was a hot day, I recommend that or a hair dryer in a pinch. I took a long razor blade utility knife and carefully worked my way in between the emblem and the vehicle in a back and forth motion. Basically, you are sawing the adhesive with that long razor sharp utility knife. It took some time. Remember the 2 studs to work around finally I removed it. There was much black adhesive remaining which I remove with Goof-Off and several tack cloths. It also provided a clean surface to apply the new emblem. I lined the 2 studs to 2 holes in the body of the car, removed the adhesive protective strip and careful stuck it on, held with pressure for 2-4 minutes. It looks like new. Not bad for $30
