I Wanted To Like This…
First off, I am not pregnant; maybe the redistribution of the human body carrying a late-term baby would affect the experience. However, the things I don’t like about this pillow seem they’d be true no matter the use. First, it is excessively hot. (That probably seems a minor issue, until you wake up wet with sweat and stuck to it,) I even tried an additional pillowcase but the velvety material just seems to trap body heat. Second, the stuffing is unequally distributed which makes the pillow oddly shaped (even for its odd shape) , There are spots with absolutely no stuffing that result in all I can describe as “ears” of material that are big enough to make you wonder why they’re there. (I also wish I’d taken a picture, I’ll try to update the review with a photo when I pull it back down off the top closet shelf it’s currently stored on!) There are sections that are overly stuffed in odd places, like the middle, and really sparse in others, like some ends. This was BEFORE I used it, too—not just pressed down from use. I let it “inflate” for over 48 hours before use but it’s still really “wrinkly” and uneven. I tried rearranging some by hand (through the material) but it’s pretty set on where it is. Third, by design you have to use it as your head pillow as well. Being hot, that’s pretty miserable. That’s los one area that seems overstuffed, so it’s not very comfortable for my pillow preference either,My purpose in ordering it was to have just a touch of back support against me as a side sleeper no matter which side and how many times I “rolled” at night. Last night was a pretty stable sleep (minimal rolls, and quite a bit of the night on my back as I didn’t sleep well and could gauge how long I was in certain positions.) When I made the bed this morning the pillow was stretched out almost straight in an oblong shape at the top of the bed. I really think this was due to the distribution of stuffing, not my sleep pattern. I was constantly readjusting to keep it in shape (curved) through the night but when I switched position I could feel it moving away.Overall, for a little extra support, especially by “shaping” it yourself, if you were reading in bed or something, it would be ok. I’ll definitely try it again in cooler weather when maybe the heat would be welcomed, for position support, it was just a flop. I did enjoy what I call the “knee pillow” support, but once gain it was so hot I just didn’t use it very long. The “nest” feel was a good way to start the night, but the pillow just couldn’t retain that shape, and if you happened to position on one of the overstuffed or under-stuffed parts it was pretty uncomfortable.
