Low price, high quality - great set of 72 watercolor pencils with a bonus brush-tip pen included.
I love to color, I find it very relaxing and it helps me to keep both my mind and my hands occupied so I don't snack at night. I have quite a collection of mediums, including several sets of watercolor pencils, but I just could not pass up this set of 72 watercolor pencils. One reason I ordered these watercolor pencils is because they come stored in a metal tin, 2 trays of 36 pencils each and this is my favorite method of storage. The tin is fairly flat so it's easy to put away when not in use and it is sturdy, with slotted trays so your pencils are held neatly in place. When I open the tin I place one tray on the inside of the tin lid and leave the other tray on the inside of the bottom of the tin. This way I can see all 72 of the pencils at a glance and the stable tin makes it easy to move them around on whatever surface I am using. The second reason I could not resist making this purchase is that the set of 72 watercolor pencils was on sale for $14.99, $5 off the price of $19.99 that they are now. Once I received this set of watercolor pencils and tried them out I was very pleased with the quality. When used dry the pencils are very creamy, they put down bright colors very smoothly and evenly. You can leave the colors as is, or you can apply different amounts of water to get different watercolor effects. There is even a water brush-tipped pen included and stored in it's own slot in the tin with the pencils. For even more intense color you can dip the point of the watercolor pencil into water and apply it to the paper directly.I truly wish I had found and bought these pencils before I bought the expensive set of Derwent pencils that everyone raves about. For me these pencils work just as good and are so much easier to use, regardless of being so much cheaper. I have no problem recommending this set of 72 watercolor pencils to anyone, no matter what your skill level is.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!
I love these pencils! My only regret is not getting a larger set. They're so smoothe, lay down color fantasticly, and I love that they completly change when water is added! The tin is nice, also. I took them out and put them in a pencil book because I travel with mine quite alot, but for home use, the tin is pretty handy, also! But back to the pencils...they're smooth, rich, & glide nicely. You don't have to press hard, either to get a deeper color without water. The water brush pen was a plus too! I didn't even realize it came with it until I opened the box. Nice suprise! They do not come with names or numbers on them, so I would suggest to get the little white stickers at the store, color it in and use them to identify. Also, I would use a piece of scratch paper to test, because some of the tops look the same, but are diffrent. In the picture I posted, I went heavy, then light to show the colors and used the water pen in the middle. In the 2nd "Take Courage" picture, I used the same 4 colors throughout (excluding the pink and silver of course) but it shows the diffrent col9rs when used heavy, light, and with water. If my review has helped you make a decission, please click "helpful"!Thanks and have a Blessed day!

Blend well but have no names on them
I purchased these watercolor pencils to use on my original artwork on handmade cards. It was a first time use for me. I found that it was difficult to quickly select shades of colors that I needed because there were not color names on them. That presented a problem if I stopped and started a project over a period to time and accidentally put the pencils back into the case. "Where is that color?" is what I'd be asking myself much too often. I would then have to scribble on an extra sheet to match the color I had been using. I do, however, like that the case is metal and that it is easy to replace the pencils in the slots and is nice and thin to carry when you travel. I find that I do not like them in coloring projects without adding adding water to the paper. The colors blend nicely with the water but are difficult to blend when dry. I guess I should not expect them to work very well dry as they are "water"color pencils!! They are ok for starters, but if I am going to do more of the the watercoloring in my artwork, I think I'll get additional pencils with color names on each pencil.

The colors came out much better than expected
The colors came out much better than expected. They lay down very light at first, but when you add water it really riches and darkens. If you're just starting out with watercolors, these are a good place to start. They let you be clean and precise, which is an issue with most beginners (and causes them to leave watercolor painting for good!)Some tips if you're just starting out:Lay down all of your color before you start adding water; these colors won't let you add more once you've painted and they have dried. You can continue to add water and blend, but you can't add more pencil. (At least, not easily)It gets much darker, and some of the colors look exceptionally different once water is added to them. Use one piece of watercolor paper as a test run for all of your blends before you add them to your final piece. The pencils aren't labeled, at all. You can't write on them either. The best way to keep track of the colors you are using is to flip them upside down in the tin, so they stay in their original spot and you know what you've used in your piece already.I'm a little disapppinted the colors aren't labeled, and I wish they could be removed from the tin more easily, but other than that I'm really happy with the quality of these pencils.

SUPERB
WOW was I surprised by this product. I thought for 72 pencils it would be mediocre and poor pigments. How wrong was I......The tin is quality and the pictures on the tin are excellent in their finish and content. The pencils themselves look stunning in the tray and the colour of each pencil is painted deeply on the bottom portion . The shaft is silver painted and when you pick up the pencil it is smooth and fine in your hand. The pencil is weighty and yet is thinner than most with a decent shaft of pigment running through it. Using the coloured pencils for both watercolour on watercolour paper is divine. They are smooth and generous in their colour. You don't need to go overboard on the laying of colour to get decent coverage. The use also of the pencils on colouring books and lower quality papers is also very good. They can be used to lay down a colour like ordinary pencils without water and can easily be blended with paper tools and Zest it - baby oil and just firm pressure. The colour moves easily on all the papers ive used and I can heartily recommend this fantastic set of pencils. I am thrill and feel like a child in a sweetshop. The white works very well on black paper and card as long as you use blenders not water. The array of beautiful colours is stunning and I cant say enough about these wonderful pencils except they appear better quality and user friendly than one or two of the very expensive ones ive got. WOW
