Works great - but might need adjustment first
At first I thought mine might be defective because the belt kept slipping off the drive gear. I figured out that the sheet metal trough that presses against the belt to skim the oil was applying too much pressure and causing the slipping. Slightly bending that back (but still having it touch the belt) solved that issue and now it works great. The manual says to let the belt hang from the tail pulley for 24 hours to relax any curled shape it might have from shipping - don't skip this step. Mine took a couple of days before the belt would hang naturally.Lastly, I plugged this into a Wemo switch that I've programmed to run once a week for a few hours. Now all I have to do is remember to empty the drainage tank!

No support on this item does not work after 6 months
2 pictures old belt & new belt. I purchased one of these and it worked good at first. Then I noticed my employee wasn't using this anymore. I asked him why he said it only worked for about 4-5 months then the belt wouldn't stay on. So I looked at it and saw that the belt warped really bad and wouldn't stay on the pulley. so I contacted Abanaki and told them about it and asked if they had another belt or suggestion on what to do. They said they had another belt that should take care of the problem and it cost $67.00 So I ordered 1 and put it on and within a week it kept walking off the pulley again. I have contacted them and answered the questions they had but nothing has materialized to fix this. Needless to say it is not working at this time even with contacting them spending the extra money on a belt that probably only cost them $15.00 at most.

POOR QUALITY
As other has stated, poor quality. Replaced motor after 14 months, sprocket for belt broke after 18 months. Was able to make new one out of aluminum, plastic just doesn't get along with coolant. Belt warps after awhile, but they all do. Just order a generic timing belt the correct length for around $15.00. Keep in mind we run this 24 hrs a day, may not be designed for this kind of work load.

Belt very stiff
The belt is very stiff. It skips and gets stuck and couldn’t make it work out of the box. The belt should be a more flexible grade or rubber.

design needs modification.
Description says 12" received 17" belt. Luckily I already had a 12" replacement belt on hand. Belt will continuously come off top pulley tho, probably because of the small diameter. I added a guide to keep the belt in line, then the bottom weighted pulley kept coming off. Final solution that works; replace the chain with a solid metal bar. I used 1" wide .03" thick steel banding scrap. Cut to length, drill two holes and use existing nuts and bolts. Works perfectly now. Also replaced the 10 RPM motor with a 30 RPM one, also bought on Amazon. Geartisan DC 12v eccentric output shaft gearbox motor for $15, was a direct bolt in replacement (soldering required). Nothing wrong with the original, just slower than I wanted.

Good skimmer
Does the job, was less than $150. Can't tell if belt is wearing or oil is just getting crusty on the inside. Surprised not more people make these things.
