Q: Where are these made?

Q: Can I use these to cut carpet remnants into doormat rugs easily? Or do they only work for cutting off excess nap?

No, they wouldn’t be good for cutting up remnants. They do work well for cutting off the excess nap though.

Q: Would these cut through very thick area rug (1.25")?

They are sturdy, well-constructed scissors, so I would think they might be able to cut a thicker rug. The issue, as I see it, would be the hand/arm strength you would need to cut through thick fibers. I had to use both hands on the border of the rug I cut and because I was cutting it to then dispose of it, I cut it in small sections which was hard, but manageable.

Q: Can you use these for cutting down masses of plants?

I have not used them for that specific purpose but these are, without doubt, the best shears I have ever owned. I had immense trouble finding something that would cut carpeting and these do it with ease. I cannot imagine that they could not cut plants.
