For the Spinmatic series of rods, a lighter 1000-2000 sized spinning reel would be the best match. The Spinmatic rods are all UL action, so a smaller more compact reel would be optimal for use with these rods, as they will help keep the rod more balanced in hand, leading to less fatigue from fishing all day. I recommend anything with our LT designation, as the lightness of the reels will provide a much better balance, as well as a better feel. the Fuego LT is a perfect choice in the 1000D size, as it is light enough to fish all day, but still has power to get fish out of cover.
