Perfect - Cool - Safe!
Mislead by all the reviews. I was so worried about the size and the zipper breaking that I almost bought the six foot size which would've been way too long. I read how difficult a time everyone was having putting this rail grip in place. It arrived on time and I immediately read the instructions - couldn't be any easier. I measured the grip to the rail for size and placement - so far so good. Then I proceeded with step one - stretch it to make it more pliable - I actually over stretched it making it really loose. I wet it and the rail and it went on so easy - it zipped up like a loose windbreaker - no tugging - no sticking - no problem. I even unzipped it - took it off - turned it around so the zipper tab was on the bottom instead of the top of the rail. Again - very easy - no problem. After the grip dried on the rail it tightened up nice and snug. Not sure what the fuss was about with other reviewers. It looks nice, feels nice and will keep us from burning our hands in the Las Vegas heat. I highly recommend this product for your pool rail.

A cool add on
A very effective add on to the pool rail. The rails always got hot enough to burn your hands but this cover works as advertised to take the burn out of the pool rails. It is a bit tricky to get it on and I did make the mistake of using a plier to pull one of the zipper tabs even though the instructions warned not to. You know what...they were right, my bad, and my local shoemaker had to put the pull tab back on for me.I installed 5, four foot units to pool stair rails, hot tub rail and ladder (don't forget to wet the cover) and learned a trick that worked for me...Even though the manufacturer tells you to start from the bottom of the rail I found the position too ackward and so I didn't and I started from the top of the rail. After getting the zipper to engage and running it down 1 or 2 inches I was able to carefully twist the cover over to its final position and complete the zipper. Once in place it works great and really looks cool (no pun intended).

Easy to install.
This is my second one to buy. For the price I wish they would last longer than one summer. Two or three summers would be a lot better value. They are very easy to install. Just be sure and measure your railing accurately. They work well in that during the summer when the temp gets up to high 90 s and into the 100's it really allows you to use the handrail without getting burned.

Check the diameter of your railing!
I bought this for a handrail for a spa I bought from Amazon, Pool Spa Small Hand Grab Rail Stainless Steel with Base plate EASY mount. In the info for this railing is no description of the diameter. As I measured it today it's apron 1 5/8". This cover fits very loosely, puckered the whole length. Rail grips doesn't list for what diameter this product is for. I found out today standard railing is 1.9". Apparently that is what this grip is for, so measure your railings diameter before ordering! I found another company which makes 3 diameters, Safety Grip, (safetygrip.net) not sold on Amazon. They have an online store and got very friendly phone service when I called them. Looks like a quality product.

Soak them first for easy installation
Took another reviews advice and soaked first. They went on so easily! First out of the package I would recommend zipping them up to ensure proper alignment. Once I soaked them out in the sunlight for warmth, I placed on our handles and wiped from bottom up. The wet material was easy to manipulate and stretch to bring close together for easy zipping. have had them on for several months without a single issue! Great product

This attractive neoprene cover goes over your pool's handrail, and stops you from getting burned. The railings get very hot!!
This will stop you from burning your hand on your swimming pool's handrail.Ouch — those railings get very very hot in the summer. We live in Phoenix, what would you expect? After seeing one of these neoprene hand rails at a friend's house, we bought this one. It zips easily onto the handrail and we kept it there all season last year. So pleasant! In the fall, when the water cooled off to use (yes, that happens, even in Phoenix) we unzipped the cover, threw it in the washer, and then packed it away with all our pool toys. During the heat of the summer the color faded a bit, but otherwise the cover stayed soft and supple. In early April, when the pool warmed up to 75 degrees, we zipped the cover back onto the handrail and went for our first dip in the water. Yay!HINT: When deciding which size to buy, look not only at the top of the hand rail, but also at any part lower down that someone in the pool might grab. In our case, the 6 foot size covered the top of the rail and a lower part that looped over the pool.

It works !!!
I had added stainless steel hand rails to aid my wife's enter into our swimming pool. However, the rails would get very warm as the sun heated them up. Found these covers and priced them at the local pool store. Their price for a 6 foot length and without tax is the same as these for the 8 foot length via Amazon. Found if you soak the covers first and stretch them, zipping on the rail was no issue. I zipped with the zipper facing up and when finished you could rotate the rail cover easy enough so the zipper faced down. Once on it does not slip as the cover has a rubber backing. I think also once the season is over unzip and put inside out of the sun. Think this way it will last for several seasons. So I would buy this again, yes it keeps the rails cooler and prevents your hands slipping on the metal rails.

Safety!
These are great for two reasons - safety so your hands don't slip - and to keep your hands from burning so you don't touch just the metal rail that's been in the hot sun all day. They are tight to put on initially and they do fade, so I wouldn't recommend blue, get the light tan color instead. I only gave it four out of five stars because the blue faded.
