Q: Does this player support sacd and dvd-audio formats?

This player does support SACD and DVD-A! I have read some posts saying they only read the CD tracks not the SACD. That is BS, I have multichannel Hybrid SACD's with 5.1 and I can hear discreet channels. The CD track is stereo 2 channel. I have the XM800M and the XM800M2, they both will play almost anything. The XM800M had lots more streaming choices, not sure why Sony cut it to 4 on this model. Since Oppo quit making players this is the player to own.

Q: Is this unit Wi-Fi enabled, so it can support any software upgrades?

Getting software updates it not a function of having a wireless capability. It is if you have an internet connection at all, whether that be wirelessly or directly connected. The unit does have a network jack in the back, so it can be directly connected via a network cable, as well as wirelessly.

Q: Can you now add apps like hbo max? the answers in the q&a are from 2019

I'm curious as to why you can't add any apps, if the capacity of the unit is maxed out by the formats it can decode or if Sony figures if you own a 4K tv it's likely a smart tv, so why clutter the player with apps you already have or can get with a $25 streaming stick? But TBH, at a certain point the software can't be updated anymore, apps will stop working and then you'll be looking at a streaming stick anyway. I have 2 other sony blu-ray players in the house, they work fine as blu-ray players, but as apps get updated, it seems like the memory of those players isn't sophisticated enough to handle it, and lots of apps no longer work, including hulu and sony's own app crackle.
