Great for solo travelers
I really love this lock ! I’m picky with the hotels that I stay at so “security” wasn’t an issue . With me being someone who doesn’t mind traveling alone , this gives me added assurance during those trips .

Handy device
I saw this on TV and thought it was a great idea. I was surprised at how well it works. I'm sure if a person really wanted to get into a room bad enough, a couple of big kicks or firm shoulder strikes to the door would defeat the portable door lock, but it would make a lot of noise or it might even deter the perp to go elsewhere. Still, every little bit helps when it comes to personal security. I did find I had to use a pair of pliers and bend the prongs outward slightly to fit over the deadbolt and latch though. Keep in mind, there has to be some type of gap between the door and the door frame for this device to be able to fit. Approx 1/8 of an inch minimum. It needs to be able to accommodate the thickness of the metal plate of the portable door lock. It really should come with TWO pouches and not just ONE though.

These do not fit hotel doors.
So I Recently went on a solo trip basically down the coast of New England IA flew into New Haven Connecticut stayed at night in a hotel there drove out to Boston stayed three nights in a hotel there drove back to New Haven returned my rental car and took a train into New York and stayed four nights in New York I stayed at three separate hotels in three separate cities not chains these were hotels that were of different chains some of them were boutique hotels this did not fit any of the doors not one of them and they all had regular key list entry with the little key cards these were not specialty doors they were not doors that had skeleton keYs but regular hotel doors . This security little lock thing is not made for hotel doors that are in regular every day hotels hotels these days have basically a system where you have the bolt that everyone uses and then below that which is where this thing fits into the door jam the lock that closes lays flat into the door itself so really the lock your door you have to bolt it other than that this piece doesn’t have a place in the door jam it’s not big enough for the bolt that you and Ashley Locke which is where it would fit however it’s not big enough below that there’s nothing to catch into it I’ve tried it in every hotel I stayed at and I even had someone This security little lock thing is not made for hotel doors that are in regular every day hotels hotels these days have basically a system where you have the bolt that everyone uses and then below that which is where this thing fits into the door jam the lock that closes lays flat into the door itself so really the lock your door you have to bolt it other than that this piece doesn’t have a place in the door jam it’s not big enough for the bolt that you and Ashley Locke which is where it would fit however it’s not big enough below that there’s nothing to catch into it I’ve tried it in every hotel I stayed at and I even had someone try and help me just to see if I was tripping and every single hotel it did not work now again like I said I went on a solo trip as a woman I bought this to protect myself at first I’m OK it doesn’t work at this hotel I try let the second hotel didn’t work again I turned at the third hotel I’m like this is one of the worst products I have ever encountered I was gone by the time I came back it was a little bit too late to return it however I would not recommend this if you were staying at any regular hotel in any city it’s not going to work this might work for hotels that actually use skeleton keys or those old fashion hotels like bread and breakfasts or something like that.

Cannot use on my door at home
I bought these as extra protection for my door at home. I wrongly assumed they would fit on my at home door locks. They do not, as the gap between the door frame and door lock is not wide enough to accommodate this device. I have put it in my suitcase, though, and will try it out the next time I travel and see if it works on a hotel door.
