Yes you can write on them with a sharpie-if you own the right kind of printer, you can also print artwork on them. I purchased an epson printer at Best Buy for $70.00 and there is a tray that you put the dvd right into. It prints high quality artwork or pictures directly onto the dvd and looks very professional.
