ULANZI VL120 RGB

I use this light strictly as my backdrop for my content and podcast setup, and it was honestly the missing piece. I’d already bought a full light kit and still couldn’t get that cinematic podcaster look you see all over social these days. The moment this arrived, I put it behind me, picked a color that fit the room, and everything clicked, my background popped, and I popped. Total game changer. What I love most is the little LED screen. You can see your exact settings, jot them down, and recreate your look every time. It also remembers your last setting when you turn it back on, which is clutch, but it’s still nice to have those notes just in case you bump it or move things around. Battery life is solid so far (I’ve had it a little over two weeks), it’s reliable, and it does exactly what I hoped, solved the separation issue and elevated my whole setup. Posting this in case someone else is struggling with that same “my background still doesn’t look right” problem. This fixed it instantly. Update Dec 2025: Purchased a second one. =)

Great little portable light. Gives perfect background lighting for stop motion sets, as well as a wide variety of colors. Great for photography as well, and if the long battery life still isn't enough, you can use the light as it charges! Also included are a number of scenes such as police lights, ambulance, etc. Plenty bright enough if you ask me, and a just a great overall product, especially for the price. I would recommend this product!

Great portable light with multi function settings and super easy to recharge and keep right on with multiple applications of use. I personally use mine for photography of my hobby. It’s demanding and highly critical by my peers on insta and other platforms, but this unit allows for so many variables and levels of light. Just feel confident you are making the right choice whether it’s mounted to your camera, I-phone, or tripod, it’s going to get you the shot under the right light.

I don't have an external flash on my camera so I needed additional lighting for my macro shots. This little light is a great piece of equipment. In addition to the regular lighting you get a multitude of colors to play around with on your shots and also a bunch of different effects (some of which I'll never use but it's nice to have them). I thought about buying the name brand light that started all this but it's SO much more expensive for my use I won't get my money's worth. I have a few other Ulanzi products and I've very satisfied with them and their brand. This video light is easy to use (once you figure out how to change the settings, colors and effects) and is very compact except when you're using the diffuser. For some reason they decided to make the diffuser twice as bit as the light so when it's on it's a bit bulky. Not a total dealbreaker. I also have one other small gripe...When you turn the brightness up or down there is a little switch you press up or down. If you don't have small fingers it's a bit challenging to use it and even harder when you're going thru the different modes and also using the brightness. Again, not a dealbreaker. If you are a amateur photographer who isn't a blogger or professional videographer this will more than suffice for your needs. I can't comment on the battery life since I just received the light and I haven't had it long enough to have the battery run down.

I got these to give an extra boost to close up shooting, or for fill light when I am doing photography or video. I got two of them, and they both could easily fit into one pocket. One can even fit a shirt pocket. They put out a good bit of light for their size, and are adjustable when it comes to color temperatore. I travel a lot and these are so handy, I even bring one along when I am not doing photography or video. I primarily use them in my line of work, but they are so inexpensive and useful, I always throw at least one in my suitcase when traveling. These are good for closeups of food photography, fill light, or to illuminate a dark room enough to photograph. I also like that they are easily handheld, so if I am out somewhere even with my iPhone and not one of my cameras, like at a restaurant I can whip it out of my pocket and illuminate a food serving quickly before causing any disruption or distraction. This is one of my favorite photo accessories of 2022.

I loved it and it came by surprise! I wasn’t expecting it for several days. Whoever my driver was does a great job with placement as well. I wish they wouldn’t use the mailbox but it’s alright. My driveway is long and I know they have a lot to do. I use to be a driver as well. As always, happy with Amazon!

A worthy upgrade to its little sister, the Ulanzi VL49 of which I've been using for a few years. This larger version is a little larger, brighter, and has longer battery life. Yet, it's as easy to use as the VL49 and shares most of the same features and controls. Like the smaller light, this one charges using USB-C, making it easy to charge. Included with the panel is a rubbery diffuser to even out the LEDs, although it does dim the overall brightness. But it's easy to remove the diffuser for full output. On a recent trip, this was my go-to small light for the few times I just needed a few extra photons to illuminate my photos in the dark. I plan to make this a regular part of my lighting kit for the forseeable future and will probably augment my collection of VL49s with this little bit brighter panel.

I love that I can attach this to the top of my Fujifilm easily. I got this originally for taking video since I needed a consistent flash for that. I really like the “candle” setting color however I don’t like that it dims on and off, this is inconvenient for taking video since the lighting brightens and darkens randomly. I haven’t figured out if it’s even possible to stabilize that setting, but i wish it would just stay on without flickering. If there were also 1 or 2 other similar colors to the candle setting I would be happy because then the lighting would look softer than the full bright white light setting, but would still be bright enough to capture good photos and video. I do love that the battery lasts FOREVER, it literally never dies and that helps me because I record video in a music/concert setting where I need the battery life. The flash overall brightens up a lot of space depending on what color/setting your on but other than the candle setting, every other setting still makes the video have a old 90’s video recorder look to it because of the harsh shadows behind the objects/people. This is obviously something you can’t really help and would need more lighting in the room to correct, but I think having a few other natural light filters would also help fix this for better quality photos and video. (Long story short, needs more natural, soft light settings instead of all the different colors).
