Works great with our TV, bright and crisp
Our television's original bulb, which had lasted for nearly six years finally gave out in a fizzle and pop kind of sigh. Hopped online, and read the reviews on this particular model. Gave it a go and two days later on a Saturday, the new bulb arrived. The bulb itself comes in the housing (the black plastic) which is great, because you can just completely switch out the items. Installation was easy- my old bulb housing used socket head hex screws, but the replacement one conveniently came with phillips head screws (we spent a while searching for those hex keys to get out the old one). Installing took no more than five minutes, and the TV lit up beautifully, as good as new compared to when we first bought the TV. This replacement bulb is really worth it, and we're pretty sure we'll get at least another 4-5 years out of this bulb as well. EDIT 12/13/12: I would just like to further update and say that this bulb is still working as of this moment, with no fading issues. However, the TV does have a warm tinge, not sure if it's just the TV or the bulb. (This is only noticeable when a laptop is hooked up, so we are guessing it's the input)

Well worth the savings
Ordered this bulb in mid Feb and installed it two days later. As noted by other reviewers the screws were different than the ones in my 2005 60" Grand Wega (that appears to be a Sony change in the later models and not the fault of the bulb maker) but it took less then 30 seconds to remove and replace with the originals. It makes no sense for a seller to stock two separate parts for different years when only the screw size is different! After reading others complain about the brightness of this bulb being less I looked at the mirror assembly the bulb shines onto- it was dirty and caked with burnt on dust! This is normal and only required a few minutes cleaning with long reach cotton swabs and some alcohol. Once cleaned this bulb is every bit as bright as the original! Clean your mirrors if you want your original appearance back, no bulb can shine thru years of accumulated dust heated to 1,100 degrees! This will also keep the bulb from over heating and failing early on. I will certainly buy my next bulb from here as well!

Great price! It works and returns the image back to like it was new!
My Sony KF-50WE610 started to get the repeated red light on the lamp indicator. After doing some research on the forum, I concluded that I needed to change the lamp. I came across the Electrified version of the XL-2100 Lamp. It had the lowest price, and it was two day ship with Amazon Prime. Being the best deal of the other sellers, I ordered this one. When it arrived, the package was actually labeled XL-2100U, which is the model that is recommended to use as the replacement. I downloaded the lamp replacement instructions from the Sony website and proceeded with removing the front lower panel and the lamp cover. Be sure to use a metric allen wrench for the lamp cover screws. I had to order an allen wrench set from Amazon. Removing the lamp was a cinch, but I came across a little roadblock on the lamp install. The screws that came with the replacement lamp were the wrong size. I removed them and used the screws from the old lamp. Installation went fine after that. The TV showed an image immediately after power up -- no more red lamp indicator. The brightness on the image returned to original level. Video games look much better now, and contrast on the blacks returned. I am very satisfied with the purchase. Hopefully, this will extend the TV life a few more years.

Great lamp for a great price!
My rear projection SONY TV Sony Grand WEGA KF-50WE610 50-Inch HDTV-Ready LCD Rear Projection TV suddenly started turning itself off and on every minute or so. I didn't know what was the problem with it and was worried I may have to get a new TV after having this one for 7 years. The idea of getting a new LCD TV sounded good but I didn't want to throw away this TV. So I Googled it, asked around online and was told that it was most likely the lamp. I was skeptical, because a few years ago when the lamp burned out in my TV, there was a blinking red light, but this time I didn't think that was the case because it still worked for a minute or two when I turned it on. So after a few days I decided to order a lamp and see if it helps - turns out it WAS the lamp. The old lamp powered on but because it was worn out - it kept turning off every minute. Glad I got the lamp, it works perfectly fine and my TV is now as bright as new (it gets a little darker with time as the lamp wears out). Don't waste your money on the original SONY one - it's not made by SONY anyway (made by Philips) and it won't make your TV look any better for the extra $100 that you would spend on it.

Big flaw, not sure if I will buy another.
The tv has a hard time turning on. The picture would fade in and out a few times then it would be fine for a few moments then it would go just black with the red check lamp light blinking. Then on some days it would turn on without a problem.

No Warranty--Be Advised!!!
Bought this lamp, worked fine for three months. These can be delicate parts and will occasionally falter. Lamp went out so I called Amazon because in the title it states "150-day Electrified Warranty". Amazon said I needed to contact Electrified because it was certainly under warranty. Electrified claimed that they were in a lawsuit with the parts company and thus would not honor the warranty. Silly? I'd say so. Passing the buck? Absolutely. I called Amazon back and they followed up on the claim and refunded me the purchase price immediately. The customer service rep at Amazon was terrific, extremely thorough and very polite. I will order this lamp from another company on Amazon, will never purchase from Electrified again. Price is the same from other companies, don't believe the warranty from Electrified.

Lasted 12 years! It’s an extra TV with great sound, why not?
Lasts long! Bought this is 2013 and it just went out now in 2026. Amazing. Hope this new one is just as good 10+ years later. Yeah, our TV is old but still works amazingly for our back room and has great sound (of course it’s a Sony!) The TV is not the main TV but it gets fair use with movies, gaming and virtual cycling. Worth the price by far!

Well I just got it in today. I can't say anything about how long it will last but it is in and working great as of now. The only thing I had to do is exchange the screws with my old ones as the ones that came with it were smaller. No problem doing that at all and my tv is working like new again. It just slipped right in and worked like a charm. for 45 dollars you can't go wrong. Just look up your tv on youtube if you are not sure how to replace it and there will be many how 2 vids out there. Thank you so far as my tv is working again.

It definitely repaired my TV but the quality of the picture is not the same. Not complaining....TV is 16 years old.

Lamp was delivered Jan 4 2018 and installed the same day. Figured I'd give it some time before reviewing just in case there were issues to report and here we are June 19 2018 and the lamp is still going strong in a TV that runs practically 20 hours a day with no problems. I couldnt see any difference in brightness or anything else for that matter. I used to pay almost $300 for replacement bulbs for this TV and admittedly the last one was in it for a little more than 4 years this one seems to give no issues and is almost ten times less expensive. Will buy again.

It is exactly what it says. Ordered two. One died fairly quickly but that was due to power surge even though I’m plugged into a monster power bar. The bulb is cheap (could order several for the price of the one version) so I’m not complaining. The second has lasted a while, but they are no where near as bright as the OEM bulbs.
