My last Patterson book.
I’ve read several & each time I wonder, why is this man so lauded as a great writer, the best of his time. It’s beyond me. For suspense, intrigue and yes, even fear, Karen Slaughter can write circles around Patterson and tie him up with a big, red bow. This Patterson book is just plain silly. I don’t know why I read it really. As a Christian, I probably shouldn’t have, although there wasn’t much sacrilegious about it, just a bunch of sophomoric what ifs.But that wasn’t what I meant about Patterson being a great writer because he’s far from that. A commercial success, yes. A writer for the ages, absolutely not. He has a simplistic style, but he’s no Hemingway. I find myself skipping paragraphs, sometimes whole pages. You hadn’t better do that with Hemingway or you’ll miss something important. Never do you get the feeling with Hemingway that you’re reading the imaginings of a adolescent boy, but that’s what I get from Patterson. Maybe I’ve just chosen the wrong books of his to read, but I think I’ve reached my limit in trying to find a jewel.

Wow
A very powerful message and book. Very hard to put down. Amazing writer as always. I thoroughly loved it. I was curious with the new turn his writing was taking how it would go but it was beautifully done.

Wow
Some of James Patterson"s best ever. Amazing, exciting, and hard to put down. There were more twists in this book than I care to count. The author definitely did his research, and the ending was more surprising than I could ever have imagined. I highly recommend this book, excellent reading!!!

All Patterson books rock.
Never a dull minute as in almost all other books I read. I just wish he would put them on sale every now and then so I could afford to read ALL of his awesome books. Patterson is by far my favorite author!

Great Story, Rushed Ending...
Well, aside from the ending (which was just odd and felt incredibly rushed), I really liked this book! I'm not a religious person (in fact, I usually avoid ALL religious crap), but I didn't feel like this book was jamming it down my throat. The story was told at a great pace and the writing was good! I found myself being disappointed whenever I had to put this down and really excited to pick it back up. Which virgin would bear the child of Satan, and which would bear the Savior? As I said, the ending was a bit out of place and rushed when compared to the rest of the novel, and there was a bizarre 'Prologue' at the end of the book that COMPLETELY confused me. I still have no idea what purpose it served as (at least to me) it had nothing to do with the book. In fact, I thought it was a preview of another James Patterson book (you know how authors will sometimes include a few chapters of another book at the end of one?) but it wasn't. Very strange.Anyway, overall it was a good story and it kept me coming back...maybe more of a 3 1/2 star book, but I'll round up.

Almost did not finish!
I almost gave up reading this book. The beginning is interesting enough, but then Patterson gets boring. Later in the book I ended up struggling because of the perspective jump between 1st and 3rd person. I'm glad I kept with it simply because the ending is amazing. If there's another book following this one though, I think I might pass on it.

Cradle and All
This is a complicated religious story. It is quite unbelievable. It has a Satan and a Savior. More than one Savior is hard to believe.

Masterfully written
One of James Patterson`s most intriguing and suspenseful novels with regards to Christian beliefs. His research and knowledge of places and dates in history along with his ability to keep the reader on edge as the story progressively leads one to delve in the mystery and beliefs in religion. He creates a masterful image with twists and turns with his characters. His writing and power of the English language is masterful. It is difficult to put the novel down.As with all his novels he leads the reader on a journey of created suspense.A five star novel.

Different
This book is so different from what patterson writes, but I loved it. It kept you guessing right to the hoping that none of the children were the beast. Knowing that one of them would. I loved the ending just hope patterson is at this moment writing a follow up

First I've read of Patterson
Now I know why Patterson farms out most of his ideas to other authors! By the time I got halfway through the book, I just didn't care anymore. It was only my life long refusal to abandon any book I start that kept me reading to the end. One to miss.

Oh my gosh!
If you are religious this book will scare you. James has captured something that can easily happen by the will of the Lord however as mighty as our Lord is their is Satan to contend with. I was riveted by this story and it was unputdownable. If you decide to read this book enjoy

Highly addictive story
Never have I read a book that had me so mesmerized i just couldn't put it down each page was full of suspense and the element of not knowing was unbearable page after page i couldn't put it down a real thriller although it's a hard story to believe it is definitely well composed and as usual Patterson has managed to pack a lot of action into this book

If you are capable of extending your credulity...
This story seems to me to be somewhat ridiculous. I have read Patterson in the past and I know he is a very prolific writer covering many different styles and subjects. However, the concept of two simultaneous virgin births, one producing a devil and the other a Christ was just a little too hard for me to swallow.
