Great beginners guitar
Bought for our 11 yr old granddaughter. Perfect size, comfortable and a good sound.

Do not buy if you're serious about learning
This would probably work for a very young child who might be having a phase, but even as a practice guitar as a young adult this didn't even last me 2 months. It would cost more than the original price to get it sounding somewhat okay. I highly recommend saving up to get a cheap Fender or a low range name brand guitar, not one off Amazon.

This is a mediocre guitar and amp. You can get way better, and you can get way worse. However, for the price, it is way better than expected. The thing is, many people buy a guitar and think that they will learn to play. The issue is that they buy a more expensive guitar, then discover that they don't have the dedication, and are out a lot of money for something that will never be played. Buy something like this...if you do get better, you're only out $150, you can pass it down, and most importantly, you can use what you learned to purchase a higher quality guitar and amp that suits YOU. Cons: -The guitar is a bit heavy due to the body most-likely being made of press board with real wood veneers. -Out of the box, it is not even close to being tuned. If you don't know how to tune a guitar, you'll need either a tuner, or a tuning app (you can get one for free). -It doesn't stay in tune for long, and although the whammy bar works, it worsens the tuning issue. But, this is for beginners, so you really have no business using a whammy bar yet. -The amp is plenty loud for a small room, but it requires a 9v battery, or a DC adapter. -The strings are horrible, but playable. Also, what looks like a complete set of extra strings in the photo is actually just one string. -The pick is not very good, but those are inexpensive. Maybe buy a set of different gauges when you order this to get a feel for what you like. Pros: -It looks really good. There are some cosmetic flaws, but only upon close inspection. -It plays fairly well and is a great entry-level guitar. It won't hold you back from learning, but a more expensive guitar would be a bit more playable. -The string height, and neck size are pretty good for a beginner. -Other than tuning and popping in a 9v battery, it has everything that you need to get started. If you have a friend who knows how to set-up a guitar, have them spend 1/2 hour to set this up. It will result in increased playability. Have fun!

I used to play guitar, 30 years ago, and decided to try to pick it up again at the age of 47. Because it might not stick, I didn't want to spend much, but most of the used guitars that I could find had corrosion issues, damage or were just generally gross. A $150 brand new electric guitar with an amplifier really seemed to good to be true. I checked out some YouTube reviews, which didn't feature the "CB Sky" but were clearly the same guitar, or very similar guitars, sold under a variety of different model names. Based on the generally positive reviews, I decided to give it a try on the grounds that $150 isn't a huge cost and was cheaper than anything that I could find second-hand. The guitar really did not disappoint. I agree with the various online reviews for similar guitars, for $150 it really is very, very good. The guitar is solid and the finish is generally good. I had expected the amplifier to be plastic and awful, but for a small practice amp, even it is decent. The reviews which mention that the pickup switch and tone controls are a bit redundant are right, it doesn't do much to change the sound, but as a beginner this really isn't a huge issue. By the time you care about the tone of the guitar and which pickup you're using, it's going to be time for a much better guitar! There are some quality issues - the screws holding the scratchplate are not all straight, which is a bit ordinary looking, and the action on the delivered guitar is set very, very high (basically, to full height - which was at almost 6mm) and the neck was quite concave (which can be OK). It only took a few minutes though to de-tension the truss rod and lower the action, and hex keys to accomplish both were included. With a straight neck and my action set to around 2mm the sound is good with no fret buzz. If you are a beginner you should watch some YouTube videos at least because doing this will make the guitar sound better and much easier to play. With that written though, for $150AUD, I genuinely can't fault it at all. The CB Sky electric guitar Is a bargain.
