The future-fantasy world of Remnant is filled with ravenous monsters, treacherous terrain, and more villains than you can shake a sniper-scythe at. Fortunately, Beacon Academy is training Huntsmen and Huntresses to battle the evils of the world, and Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang are ready for their first day of class.

Best Looking Steelbook Ever!
I started watching RWBY (pronunced Ruby) at the beginning of the year and it's an interesting series. I know you can watch the series online, but it doesn't hurt to have a disc copy since internet isn't always the best for everyone. This product contains the first three volumes of RWBY and each disc contains special features/extras for their respective volumes (for example, character trailers on the first disc). These discs are stored in this epic steelbook and it's the best looking steelbook I've ever seen. The front has the main characters while the back is blended with red as the base color with white, black, and yellow as add-ins. This also contains a plastic protective sleeve which blends in extremely well with the case. The discs are stored quite nicely, but I do find having to remove disc two if I want to get disc three out.If you don't have the RWBY series physically and planning on buying them, get this. Note that the discs are only Blu Ray ones. I haven't watched volume three yet, so once I watch that, I won't have to wait very long for volume four which comes out in a couple of weeks!

Excellent story and love the metal box for the discs.
This is almost perfect. I love the metal box that it comes in which has the 4 main characters featured. Before I purchased this, I had noted that one reviewer had mentioned the way that the Volume 2 disc was beneath the Volume 3 disc. This was a slight inconvenience which I partially alleviated by swapping the two - I still have to remove the Vol. 3 disc prior to putting the Vol. 2 disc back in, but that's not much of a hassle. I had trouble playing the Volume 1 disc when I first put it into my older Blu-ray player. It locked up when I tried to select anything other than "play as a movie" - but I checked and found there was a firmware update available and the discs worked fine after I installed that update. So, if you are having a problem, check for updates for your player. The only other issue I had was that the Volume 1 disc does not have subtitles. As I'm a little hard of hearing, I prefer to have subtitles so I don't have to keep the volume up as high. However, the Vol. 1 disc does not have this option. For me, it is inconvenient, but if you are seriously hearing impaired, you need to know this up front. Volumes 2 and 3 do have subtitles for the show, but not for the extra content. Now, for the actual show. If you are already a RWBY fan, you know how awesome this show is! If you haven't seen it yet you really should! The show is about a young girl, Ruby Rose, who is accepted into a prestigious academy that trains "hunters" and "huntresses" to fight monsters. It is an archetypal story of the young person who becomes a hero. In Ruby's case, it is not entirely unexpected as it is what she has always wanted, but she is brought into the academy two years ahead of time ... and that is a good thing as she is needed. Ruby is teamed up with three others, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna and Yang Xio Long (Ruby's older sister), Volume 1 is quirky and funny. Volumes 2 and 3 is where we start seeing the real adventure and danger which is being faced by Team RWBY.Of course the main series is available on the internet ... but the viewing experience on these discs is much improved. If you haven't watched RWBY, go ahead and check it out ... but come back and get these Blu-ray discs. If nothing else, it is great to be able to watch all of the episodes of a given Volume as a single movie, it much improves the flow and feel of the story. If you're considering this for a friend or loved-one who has enjoyed the show, it will make an excellent gift.

Great value for the first three volumes!
The good, it comes in a beautiful steelbook that arrived without dents and looked pristine, the clarity and audio through my surround sound is fabulous, and the extra content is decent. The bad, the slip that covers the steelbook has a slightly frayed edge, though it's not noticeable unless you're looking very closely, the audio while good if played through my tv speakers occasionally sounds compressed(not a problem with my stereo though), and while the commentary is fun they sort of jump around a bit instead of giving more info on certain areas. The seller I bought it through on here was AMAZING, I had a question and they replied promptly and courteously! Oh and it came two days before it was scheduled to!

For anyone interested in RWBY Beacon steelbook case.
RWBY is a great well written, original series and good choreographed fight sequences that I enjoy and has me entertained. It may start off a little slow but picks up. I'm glad that I own this the first three seasons are packed into one, I love this Beacon steelbook case besides the discs. I love the artwork case etc. Hopefully, they'll do something like this with season 4 -6. I would gladly buy it too. I don't know if anyone can get Beacon steelbook case (season 1-3) other than being used but if you can get it, get it.

but the combat animation is excellent from the very beginning and remains strong throughout
First I need to say that I am a HUGE animation fan. The RWBY series, season 1-3 were made with the same 3D art program that I use myself, which I found entertaining by itself. The stories start off silly and light and grow a bit darker and menacing over time. This is, as I understand it, by design. You can see improvements in the animation as the series progresses, but the combat animation is excellent from the very beginning and remains strong throughout.Obviously I highly recommend it. Episodes tend to be short, but it's a good story with enjoyable characters.

Phenominal!
This steelbook for Rwby volumes 1-3 is fantastic. It's the first steelbook I've ever owned and I don't regret it. The case and sleeve look badass and so do the discs. I with they would include and art book inside where they usually put all of the other junk. That would be really neat.

I was immediately reminded of why I fell in love with the world of Remnant to begin with
I remembered watching the four trailers before the first season premiered with excitement. After the first season was released on DVD I bought it, watched it, then forgot about it. Flash forward years later. I bought this, and Volume 4 and binge watched all of them. I was immediately reminded of why I fell in love with the world of Remnant to begin with. This Blu-ray collection has the first three seasons, and hours of extras. If you like commentary, you will love this. Each volume has commentary from the directors, and crew. The collection arrived on time, and was in good shape.

A grind to greener pastures
I've had my ups and downs with this series over time; from marathoning in to outright dropping it, to picking it back up and, as of right now, being addicted to its premise. RWBY right from the get go sets up an interesting premise but falls on it's face in it's slow jog to the halfway point of Volume 2 where it suddenly decides to hit the ground running. The show itself has had a rough journey. The first volume was subject to poor animation and niche references to other RoosterTeeth moments. The second season had an equally awkward start, and despite becoming good beforehand, the unfortunate passing of series creator Monty Oum left Volume 3 disjointed. Is this a bad thing? Well, you'd be surprised to hear that it's not. Each volume isn't too terribly long, so getting to the 'good stuff' isn't quite as daunting as waiting for 50 episodes of One Piece before THAT gets going. Let me tell you, despite its issues, this is a story that will have you deeply entrenched if you give it a chance. Volume 3, though heart-wrenching, sets the tone for the future of the franchise - and it isn't as kid-friendly as one might expect.RWBY isn't afraid to step out of the comfort zone that holds back a lot of stories. People will die. People will get hurt. Friends will fall apart, and so will they become stronger. It's a breath of fresh air once it gets going, and the painful lack of exposition towards what's going on leaves you wanting more. The problem? The first half of this box set is largely slice-of-life mush with awkward melodrama. It's a difficult recommendation to call; I can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed, but I also can't encourage you to have to deal with the necessry first season to get to the meat of things. If in future a Season 1-10 box set comes out then I'll likely be slamming my fists onto the table and MAKING you by this series (due to Season 4, which is still airing as of this review, is looking PLENTY strong); but Season 1 and 2 are there to lay the groundwork, so I can't fully recommend you purchase this particular one if you're new.I personally bought this box. The steelbook is beautiful but unfortunately the translucent O-Card sleeve is a tad bloated and doesn't wrap comfortably around the case (may just be my item in particular); and finishing this set in one day had me staying up until 1am catching up with Season 4 on Youtube - so there's that! All in all, buy it if you have the money, if you're unsure then don't. But trust me. RWBY is going to be incredible - this set just isn't going to show you that until the last disc.
