Perfect for in between coloring or brightening up your natural shade!
Been using this for years in conjunction with Madison Reed's permanent hair color in Matera Marigold. The combo gives me the perfect natural light copper red of my dreams! I get compliments everywhere I go.I will say it makes my hair way too bright/red for my liking until I've washed it once or twice and be careful because it stains things FAST. I find it fades nicely over the course of a few weeks. I use it roughly every 4 weeks, in between coloring. Red is notoriously hard to keep vibrant, and I find that this really does the job without damaging my hair. I wish it was less expensive but I'll continue to repurchase.

5 Stars – Deep, Rich Color and Gorgeous Shine!
I used the Madison Reed Color Reviving Gloss in Espresso, and it completely refreshed my faded dark brown hair. It added the perfect depth and richness without making my hair too dark or flat. The cool, neutral tone helped tone down any brassiness and gave my color a salon-fresh look in under 30 minutes. The gloss was easy to apply, had a pleasant scent, and left my hair feeling soft, smooth, and incredibly shiny. I especially appreciate that it’s ammonia-free and gentle on my hair—no dryness or damage afterward. It’s ideal for stretching the time between permanent coloring sessions or just giving your hair a boost before a special event. If you have dark brown or black hair and want to revive your color without harsh chemicals, Espresso is a fantastic choice. I’ll definitely be repurchasing!

Waste of time and money
This did nothing for my hair. My natural hair color is brown and I always dye it red. I was hoping this would bring out the color in between hair dyes. It made my hair dry and no difference in the color.

Great product, terrible container
I have naturally medium brown hair with reddish undertones. Over the past few years I have done a lot of salon coloring to enhance color and neutralize greys, using a brown base with dark blonde for grey highlights. Over time, this gets really expensive, and the color gets brassy after a while anyway. I'm trying to retire at some point so I started looking at other options. I found the madison reed gloss and conditioner at an Ulta. The conditioner was SO messy, and while it did a nice job I did not want brown stains all over my white shower. The gloss is amazing as well-it adds shine and neutralizes brassiness. It also is a messy product and- again- with a white bathroom it leaves stains- so I have learned to use a traditional hair color bottle to apply so I don't end up with big glops everywhere. As others have mentioned it does NOT cover greys. Not to plug another product on this review, but I do use John Freida glaze each shower on my roots and THAT does neutralize greys, if only temporarily.Eventually I'll go back and get my entire head done again, but this keeps me looking decent for a while and lets me color less frequently.

Love this gloss!
I love this gloss and have been using it for over a year now! I do it at the same time I am touching up my roots with the Madison Reed Root Touch Up. A few things to clear up. This product is a gloss with a small amount of color to help neutralize current color. It does not color your hair, I will repeat, will not color hair or roots. What it does do is give a nice smooth glossy texture and help neutralize brassiness. I love the smooth silky texture of my hair after use. Another reviewer stated that the product has only enough for one application. I have long hair, approximately 16" root to tip and I usually have enough for 2 to 3 applications. When applying pay attention to tips, comb through using a large toothcomb. This product will give you a nice glossy shine between coloring. It can be used to give shine to non-colored hair too just use the clear gloss if unsure of color match. Overall I really like this gloss, as it's always out of stock at my Ulta store, I order on Amazon.

Looking to tone down and add shine to your hair?
I recently applied highlights and toner to my already-highlighted hair. As you can see from the “before” photo, it had become a bit streaky and brassy. I wanted to soften it into a warmer honey shade—the look I originally hoped for when I first got my hair done. After reading reviews here and on another platform, I decided to give this product a try, and I’m glad I did. I left it on for 20 minutes as directed, and I’m really happy with the results. It toned down the brassiness beautifully and gave me the softer color I was going for. It’s only been a week, but based on what others have shared, the color will likely fade over time since it’s semi-permanent. Hopefully this helps anyone looking for a quick and effective color refresh!

Didn’t cover roots
I left this on for about 45 minutes. It looks really brassy red and didn’t cover the roots. My hair looked much better before. I had dyed it two months ago with a Madison and Reed champagne blond color which looked great. I hope this freaky red fades out quickly! I was advised by Madison and Reed stylists to use dandruff shampoo to help strip the color.
